That's why I mentioned the payroll. We've made a lot of bad trades involving position players for relievers.

He either needs to go to the DL, or hit his way out of it. Impact players don't sit on the bench for role players. Especially role players who can't defend at SS.

Nunez is hitting worse than Bogaerts, and is a big downgrade defensively. This is a panic move.

Brentz is never getting called up. He's 28, can't play defense, sucked when he was up last year, and isn't exactly dominating AAA. He's not an upgrade over Young. And Young is bad too.

We let him go so we could keep old man Youkilis and then have the right to trade Anthony Rizzo for Adrian Gonzalez. The Red Sox are lucky they can keep a high payroll, because Theo, Cherrington, and Dombroski would have had this team in the cellar the last decade.

Way better than Marrero or Holt. He'll probably play 3B against lefties, and can pinch run late in games.
