Most of it. Not many pitchers over the age of 30 should get seven year contracts . They don't hold up. We traded a versatile player like Shaw who played first and third , and didn't really make a lot of money. They signed Moreland because of it. The Sale deal made sense .They didn't know if Price could handle Boston after all. Plus they didn't know what kind of year Porcello would have this year. Just being a top five pitcher is different for Porcello. If they bring up Devers , I hope they have some lead way with him. If he goes into a Moncada 2 /25 and makes 4 errors over there, they will move him. The whole key is Price. If he pitches good and is healthy, it's fine. I have my doubts Price pitches into July injury free. Management is in a tough spot.

It doesn't matter if Espi turns out great, good, average or bad. The deal is a mess. At the time was the number one pitching prospect, he could have got more for the buck. If that's all they could have got, you don't do the deal... It's a shame they couldn't keep Margot and included Bradley in the deal. He's hitting close at 280 and what 43 hits I thought . If he motivates himself ,he will be a 300 hitter with 25 SB and he's only 22. I would have done the Kimbrel deal though. I just wonder if they had 2 include Margot. I wonder if they passed on Pomeranz would have they taken Espi as the centerpiece for Kimbrel. If the Pods said no on both Bradley and Espi. The CWS wanted Bradley in the Sale deal , yes they would have included Moncada as well deal/ breaker, but maybe they would have kept Koepach. If you pass on Pomeranz, it is possible they could have kept both Margot and Koepach and still have had Kimbrel and Sale by adding Espi in the Kimbrel deal and Bradley in the Sale deal. Don't forget they dealt Eaton as well. Their was a need. That's why they need Devers up here and producing before he trades him for a bullpen player coming off TJS. He's an impulsive GM plain and simple. Just know other way of slicing it.

I'm not trying 2 be the skunk at the picnic, but this is when the manager needs to earn his pay. When you lose series against Brewers and Rays a change might be needed, whether it's his fault or not. I'm not blaming him ,but is he really DD's man, in the long run.... No. I don't know what DD is waiting for. His bad trades have put them in this spot. DD should do something or it's not gonna change. They need a spark right now.

John Farrell , can't play Bradley at the moment in STL. With no Ramirez and the pitcher getting up, Just can't afford it. His confidence is at an all time low. I thought Young filled in good, I don't know why Farrell tossed out Young so quick. JBJ and Davis need a film work meeting. His head is coming off the ball again JMO. I like the player but something is going on. Pomeranz is throwing 90. The velocity is dropping big time. The Twitter feeds said he was at 92 last start , today 89/90 he's injured. It's a bad trade, they could've got out of the deal . They got scared. It will haunt DD as long as he's the GM here.

On last thing of note. David Price will throw five innings in his rehab. If he can't because of weather elements , he will throw a bullpen indoors . That could change as well . That is the plan as of now. Farrell said that after the game yesterday . Post game show with John Farrell.

Besides the Sale and I guess Kimbrel deal , all of DD trades and F/A signings. Third base is a hole. Moreland is average. His glove is nothing great. When Ramirez played over there raw ,he was ten times better, same when they had Napoli. No outfield depth with Bradley hitting the way he is. I didn't even get into Price, Thornburg , Smith

Because your farm system is stripped for next three years on a player who's only going 2 pitch 50 - 60 innings the whole year. It is also a fact ,you have no depth 2go out and get additional pieces for the team. I would have done the deal, but that is the other side of looking at it.

For a mid- level prospect. Just think they are waiting for Devers.

Kimbrel's knee looks healthy. He looks great. When you could close people out at 98, you look fresh and healthy.
