  1. 35+ pitches in two innings isn't going to get it done.
  2. Needless to say, he didn't ask her out again.
  3. I actually know a guy who had this happen to him. Party, drunk, passed out, woke up with it on his chest. His date did it. Ughhhh.
  4. What?? Assert yourself! This is IMPORTANT. Besides, youve got the entire UConn football team having your back,
  5. That second part is a good thing. Trust me on that. No girl I ever urinated on wanted to go out with me afterward. Who'd have thought?
  6. Don't let that one get away. You can forgive a lot of her shortcomings for that!
  7. I think I've finally found a player I hate more than I hate the Yankees. Is that blasphemous?
  8. Get in the f***ing box, Manny,
  9. Devers has become The Man defensively
  10. Well s***. We didnt' need that.
  11. Thanks. I've been away for the past two nights on a birthday weekend with my g/f. She's a peach. We didn't miss a minute of either game.
  12. Ok guys... I've got Birthday Mojo going here. I want a WIN.. and Pearce is a great way to start!
  13. I keep hoping he'll bet picked up by a NL team. That way he won't get yet another shot at our players. Worst case scenario is that he gets picked up by a team in the AL East. I don't think our depth chart would stand that.
  14. Nice post with a great perspective, OT. I lost my mom (who was responsible for my obsession with the Sox ) in 1999 so she never got to see this string of successes either. What a shame that so many people of that generation never got to see it.
  15. They did, and they did well in the 7th too, which must be what I remembered. I had often thought that the Sox "made their hay" when a team's starters were in the 3rd time through the order and then when the relievers came in. The top 4 innings were the 5th, 7th, 1st, & 6th. I'd always heard that more runs were scored in the 1st than any other inning because 1) the pitchers weren't settled in, and 2) that's the only inning in which a team can say in advance who's coming to bat. This is from 2011 so I don't know if it still carries or not.... https://www.beyondtheboxscore.com/2011/7/3/2255959/all-innings-are-not-created-equal-how-run-scoring-varies-by-inning Thanks Bell (and Moon). I need to explore more. I had no idea all those stats were compiled and available.
  16. I was absolutely astounded when Devers made that play. He's botched easier plays this year. And the throw was on the money too. In my coaching I've observed that often times when a player makes a play that I thought was beyond his ceiling that player was 'climbing the ladder', reached a higher rung than I thought he could, and within a short time that became his new normal. Maybe Devers chose the right time to climb that ladder.
  17. It has seemed all year that if the Sox were behind midway through the game that they'd come back late and win. Does anyone know how to find runs scored by the Sox, by inning? And please don't answer that question with a 'yes' or 'no'. Obviously I'm trying to confirm or debunk what I think I've observed and I need help. Thanks
  18. If this happens the reaction will be a lot like when Ryan Dempster drilled ARod. There will be a lot of tsk, tsk-ing, head shaking, and saying that it shouldn't have happened, but deep inside everyone will know that Machado had it coming to him.
  19. All of the other umpires are glad he's still employed too. He makes the rest of them look good.
  20. He could have destroyed Pearce's achilles tendon if he'd been inches higher. If he keeps blocking the bag on steals like in did to Mookie in game 1 he's going to come away with bloody legs. And I won't shed any tears. What goes around comes around.
  21. Probably not. Does JDM make the throw in the Yankees series that may have saved the game? Are we going to make the decision based on which field is more likely to require a great play?
  22. The bottom line is which is the better team, 1) JBJ in CF, JDM in RF and Mookie at 2b or 2) Mookie in CF, JDM in RF and Kinsler at 2B or The third option of JBJ in CF, Mookie in RF, JDM in LF and Kinsler stays at 2B. ? I like the 3rd option because it disturbs the defense as little as possible, but that's just me.
  23. That was a great 'scramble'! Please don't tell me that these players are only in it for the money. There's a lot of team and personal pride involved in it too.
  24. I think you'll see JDM out there. He's got today and most of tomorrow off, they'll wrap that ankle and he'll be ready to play. As someone observed at the time, he didn't come down with all of his weight on that ankle. I've had ankle injuries that looked similar to what happened and it's nothing that a cold pack and an Ace Bandage wouldn't cure. And he's in a lot better shape than I ever was!!
