  1. Then you've never played baseball?
  2. Forgot about that. I guess I meant no ill-intent when he started it up. As I say... I didn't follow it that closely. Good point.
  3. Did the guy not lose pretty much everything also? To me, that says terrible businessman, but no ill-intent? How many big businessmen start something like this, pony up tens of millions of their own money, & personally take a blood-bath? Most only lose our money. I think Slash has it right.
  4. Come on Slash. Everything is debatable. & if not? We'LL make it so.
  5. Perhaps the biggest reason not to move him???? FEAR OF screwing with a lineup that is clearly working. I'm way too superstitious to mess with things right now.
  6. The only animals that Schill has ever hurt were in video games as f a r as I know.
  7. I still listen to Boston Sports radio whenever I can, so I know he's gone way off the deep end, but I still think he has earned a lifetime pass of his kooky shyte for all he's done for us??? I bang on guys pretty hard, but when it comes right down to it, i'm pretty damned forgiving. The guy has lost so much, & I can't help but remember all he's given us all.
  8. p.s. yes. I know he's become a bloody nut, but I still don't let it get to me. When I think bloody nut, it's always overshadowed by that bloody sock! How 'bout a little love for Schill?
  9. Just watching ESPN's O4 World Series in my hotel room in Eugene OR. Game 6 with Schilling was EPIC! What a flood of great memories!!!! Schilling may have become an EPIC politically charged jerk, but I defy you to watch that & feel anything other than pure admiration, respect, gratitude, pride, elation, exticy, & LOVE! Right now, I love the guy! p.s. sorry for the aside. Neuro-surgeon tomorrow.... Wanted to see the scenes from today's win, & got a real treat. I haven't watched that ALCS series all the way through on tape before. A little here. A little there, but never all the way through. GREAT STUFF! Great memories! The series I knew i'd marry my now wife. Game 4. So here I am 12 years later with her & our 9 year old.
  10. So big deal that he's about to surpass my .270 low avg, what else has he done for us lately? He's BARELY on pace for.... 108 rbi's Only 150 some odd runs scored. Not good enough for him to be 1st. 24 HR's. Not exactly Jim rice territory What? Maybe 40 -50 SB's? Please! Papi could do that! When will JF wake up & bench this kid?!? I've seen enough to do far less than that!
  11. He's pressing, likes to pull the ball, & doesn't have a great contact swing to the oposite field. Not a good combo. He needs time to drop down in the order & work on going to the oposite field. Just my opinion, & I happen to be right.
  12. better. He will come around. I'd still give him a break by dropping him in the order. Of course, it's pretty much a mute point.
  13. Buch's pitching line... 6 2/3 innings. 4 ER. 5K's. 5 walks Over/Under? Win/Loss?
  14. I would tend to agree. Pedey! He makes incredible plays look routine so often, you sometimes forget what an obvious pick he is.
  15. McHugh. Pitching well as of late. 3.50 ish last 3 starts.
  16. The combination of what happened with both Hanley & Pablo last year, how Pablo came back heavier ( which is manifest ), Hanley's goofing off attitude week 1 of ST, & the unanimously negative reporting at the time, & the perception by many that HanRam was looking like he had done little to prepare for 1st over the off-season, did have me going off about both..... I was watching & reading everything about ST. I could not be happier to be more wrong about Hanley, & have been more than up front about eating crow. LOVE IT! Tastes great even without salt! Hanley has not only clearly put out a major effort, but has had a fantastic attitude. His play has been more than solid! At the pkate, he has done everything asked of him, even sacrificing power for a more team first solid contact approach. Hats off to him! Still hitting .500.
  17. At this point, i'd be inclined to drop him in the order to give the kid a breather. XB, Pedey, Hanley, Papi, Shaw, JBJ, Mookie, Holt/Young, Vaz/ Hanigan Best 1-6 in the mlb
  18. Seems self evident to me. Body language & reading inferences, it seemed clear many of the pitchers were not feeling it with Swihart. As for on field.... I could state what you've no doubt read 1000 times about his ability to frame the pitch. I would add his cat like quickness. GREAT HANDS!!!!! Exceptional blocking & knock-down deadening of pitches in the dirt. Great arm. Keeping runners closer to the bag..... etc. Plus, the innumerable intangibles. Man! If he could hit .270 with some pop????
  19. The moderating seems very good, & I like the soft handed "suggesting," as oposed to heavy handed rebukes. I would however slightly disagree about thread starting. While I hate it when guys start repetitive and competing threads on the same topics, most of the threads I see on the front board are pretty unique, and have very distinctive topics. Makes it easy to follow a player or topic you are passionate about, as opposed to a catch all, who knows what the topic will be dejur??? No interest in going there to have people talk past others. A solid reminder not to start a thread for every fleeting thought? Yes! So, all in all good job.
  20. How about playing FAR BEYOND expectations? Hanley #1 Shaw #2 X-Bo #3 Mookie? #4 Biggest impact? Likely Vaz! Playing up to SKY HIGH expectations. JBJ only underperforming because of bizzarly bad throwing do to weather. He will likely be tied with Vaz by years end. UP THE MIDDLE, the Sox may just have the best D In the entire mlb!
  21. There is absolutely no doubt about it.... so many guys on this team who are doing some heads up running. So many runs scored from 1st to home, mainly because of hustle & heads up running. Lots of SB by Mookie & XB. JBJ is a threat, but not near as quick off the blocks. Hanley, with so many heads up 1st to 3rds. Lots more hit & runs. It's not just the power#'s, they are becoming a constant threat on the base paths. Really great & exciting to see!
  22. This is why we need to try bunting more often.
  23. Pedroia! Straight up!!!
  24. However.... management will no longer tolerate these superfluous threads.
