  1. Red Sox payroll is very close to 4X the Rays payroll! I would love to see us sweep this series, but if they don't and the Rays make the playoffs, I'll at least have someone to root for.and a reason to watch the damn thing,
  2. After 8, A's lead 8-6 After top fo the 9th score tied, 808 After top of 10th, Rays lead 10-8 Final score Rays 10-Dodgers 9 M'boy, Pfann: 5 for 6, 1 walk single in 9th single in 10th 1 SB 2 RBI] 6 runs scored I don't care if this guy is a Mookie Betts in the outfield (I'm sure he isn't) but he could easily replace Betts if Mookie is traded.is traded. That game last night had to be highest pressure game he will ever see. 2 or 3 days ago, the Rats had a 1/2 game lead for No 1 spot in the WC race. Going into this 4 game set with the Sox. They are fighting for the 2nd WC spot. Will also be interesting to see the attendance for these games. They should be lined up across the bridge to Rt75. If we were in this position, they's declare a 4 day holiday!
  3. I often wonder how Connie Mack felt when hung up the phone after selling Lefty Grove. "Pitching is 70& of the game" Or. where Ted Wills was when he first said, "Wait Wait Wait-Quick Quick Quick"
  4. Want you to know he highlight of all the spring traonong games and workouts was meeting you two guys! That was Mookie's rookie season. right?
  5. Impossible to work on what you can't see. Will most likely turn the computer and trusty desk top printer to one of the Barkley Place maintenance folks at the end of this month. Before losing contact, I'd like to suggest some SOX MOVES based on the many (too many) hours of watching Sox, and other, games this past month or two. One I cn think of that has impressed me all tar, is TOMMY PFANN. TB Rays. Very remindfull of Mookie at this stage of their respective careers. Plenty of chances to see him starting in a few days.. Maybe, Benny and cash for Pfann?
  6. He looks awfully good to me, and under tremendous pressure!
  7. Sorry abput the title
  8. Benny and Marxo or Benny and Price---for the new Yaz
  9. Case C;osed
  10. sMALL Small sample size? That included ONE HALF the hitters on 12 different teans! And you call that a small sampl?
  11. This crazy stance went out out years ago. Nobody uses it any more. I just hope he starts hitting again. I don't really care how he does it. But the stance makes no sense. THAT'S WHY NOBOY ELSE USES IT ANY MORE1
  12. To-night, agter reassuring myself to how bad the Jets are, I switched to baseball. Limited schedule, but I caufgt the last inning of the Baltimore age, I was looking for other MLB hitters who were using a Dever's Stance. I switched from one game to another (6 in all), and after catching over 50 At Bats different At Bats, There was one. Plays for the Cubs PS/ Since the MLBExtraInnings broadcast end at the end of this month, I wouldn't waste spend $32 to catch the rest of their seaspn which ends at the end the regular season. I will think hard about next season, because of the s***** and dmultplis Mike Trout commercials;s. "I just wnna play", he wails!
  13. :ast 15 games, BA .197, 10 for 61, OBP .269 and 2HR Opposing pitchers have finally paid notice.
  14. PS I bet you never saw a golfer exercising his leg while trying to hit a golf ball. Ask your self what this extra exercise is suppose to do.
  15. Less than 2 weeks to go. Nothing to lose by fettings rid of that stupid stance. Try bring back your right foot in to the field of play. Point that toe rowards the pitcjer instead of the second baseman. And for Yor Own Sake; WAIT WAIT WAIT - QUICK QUICK QUICK
  16. Weber is a mystery. The first time I saw him pitch, mosr of his arm angle pitches came at a 30-49 degree arm anggle. He was hittimg glove. He mixrd that with occassional over the top pitches. The niext time h looked like a different pitcher. The stint after that was even worse. I have no idea where Cora got this pitching coach, but I hope we see a real one next year, Never in the history of baseball have we seen a pitching staff go to hell like this one has.
  17. If I'm not mistaken (happens more oftem these days) Eddie Collins, ex-2nd baseman, was Yawkee's GM when they scooped the likes of Foxx, Cramer. Grove. etc from the near bankrupt Connie Mack.
  18. Very true, but I can't imagine that happening as much with Papo involved as it would otherwise. I just think it would be worth a try. AND, I'm sure we'd have one hell of lot more intense and longer work outs than they had last year. (amd much later tee times)
  19. Eddie Collins played 2bd bas for the Red Sox, and also as their GM. And Hall of Famer, just as Papi will be. He was a college grad (Colgate) but I doubt think many of college courses were of much help to hin as a major league GM. . I was at a spring training game, here in Ft Myers, right after Papi came over from the Twins. (who also train here) when ha came from the dressing rooms, he was targeted by half a dozen Twins players, Hugs and laughter. His best friend was the Twins center fielder. I forget his name, and he trailed Papi all over the field. Add a thousand moments like that to the Betts returns to the digou straight to Papi. Questions, every day. Papi would never take a coaching or managerial job. Too permanent. The approach by Henry might be, "David, help me put this mess back together. Two years, maybe. Special Assistant, maybe? GM?/ Let's talk about it."
  20. He looks very, very, good tonight.. Hitting spots. Smooth
  21. It's going yo yake more than a white shirt MBA to put some piss and vigor into this group. Big Papi could do it, that's for sure. Give him 3 o4 Harvardian types to do the paper work and, well, can you imagine the new interests and excitements?
  22. So, you left your sense of humour at the bar? There are on;y 2 requirements for a GM 1, Intimate baseball knowledge, and 2. Ability to interact wothe basemall players/ Know so,epme more qualified.
  23. "Come in, Mookie. What's on your mind?' Well, Papi, only a year left on my comtract, isn't it time to think of a long term deal" "Why" "For one thing, I know what I'm worth and would get a lot of relief out of it" "So what are you thinking of, Mookie, and have you talked this over with your agaent? "I'm thinking 20 million over 10 years" "Why?" "Why what"? "Why so much money? What are you gping to do with 10 million bucks every year? "Hey, man, it's securoty!" :How about 7 million a uear for 10 years? "No way. The Yankees are ready to offer what I just said." "Nice try, Mook, we'll talk again. And, in the mean time, see if there isn't a way you can some of that .290 to .346 gap next year."
  24. What are the requirements for the GM job? 1)Know baseball talent when he sees it, and 2)Be able to negotiate with the players. Know anyone better qualified? THIS TEAM HAS COLLAPSED
