  1. My two sons have not had any kids ... and I'm 60. They both want to wait til they grow up.
  2. Moon, No more realistic moment than to acknowledge the Sox are 14-10 for the month of April. This seemed the place to put this mild observation. I didn't want to create another thread so I sought out a good place to say it. Remembering almost any of the last several Aprils, without looking it up, I recall many measuring a bad season ahead because April was so bad. Well, Porcello is pitching great. Wright is pitching great. The BP seems to have settled down. Price too. We lead in strikeouts. The bats are alive and the defense is doing quite well. We lead in runs and BA ... not too bad.
  3. Your dad n mom started youuuung! ) Reminds me of Charro (María del Rosario Mercedes Pilar Martínez Molina Baeza) .... she kept changing her age. When someone did the math, it meant she got married the first time at the age of 6. to Xavier Cugat.
  4. Very much agree. The couple seasons he was bothered by hand injuries had a surprising number of our fans calling for his neck.
  5. True. I am among many who wonder what Musial's added years would have been like, but he left on his terms and left us wanting more. Papi looks like he's gonna leave us wanting more.
  6. No worries that you changed the name of the thread. That wasn't the issue that I responded to. I responded to the crassness of the heavy boot of "MVP." I didn't call his mother a frog or say he lives under a bridge. I was merely intrigued by the comment Papi made and shared that. But he certainly was off-putting with his comments about my thread and intellect. Since this is a Red Sox forum, be assured that it would have been about the Sox. I'll try to be less misguiding next time or at least more illuminating. I write articles fairly often and speak publicly almost as often. After doing it now for over 45 years, I tire of bland titles and use ones that I want people to be intrigued by or have their intellect stirred. Just a thing for me .... I'll try not to do that here.
  7. Hmmm. I guess using a hook in the title is not allowed, nor any literary licence. I'll be a good boy and try to be plain jane. BTW, if it's your sh_t, I am sure it's just dandy. I'm out of here.
  8. Which leads me to state clearly what we already knew ... It is way better being a Red Sox than a Yanqui!!!
  9. "If I get bored," Ortiz said, "I'll just call the Red Sox and ask them to activate me again." What a line, eh? I know Papi is just talking right now... "And Ortiz didn't miss. Against the Yankees, he rarely does. "I felt like I've done that a lot to lefties where I'm going for a first-pitch strike, trying to use that outside corner," Betances said. "I’ve faced him a lot and a lot of times he's taken it. But this time he had a good approach. For him to hit that ball the way he did, he's been great his whole career. All I can do is tip my cap to him." Betances is in good company, becoming the 35th Yankees pitcher who has allowed an Ortiz home run. Ortiz has hit 48 regular-season homers against the Yankees, 14 of which have given the Red Sox a lead. "That's why they don't pitch to me late in the game much," Ortiz said. "Those games between us and the Yankees, everybody is on their toes. It's enjoyable. Next year I'm going to be a fan, so I'm probably going to feel the same way watching the game." And passing the torch to Bradley and the rest of the young Red Sox, who are learning to come through in the clutch by watching the master. "If I get bored," Ortiz said, "I'll just call the Red Sox and ask them to activate me again." Only in the Yankees' worst nightmares" Scott Lauber Link: http://espn.go.com/blog/boston/red-sox/post/_/id/48797/fresh-jackie-bradley-jr-familiar-david-ortiz-faces-lead-red-sox-over-yankees
  10. Another game that had JBJ written all over it~ Beating the Yanquis only makes the thing sweeter
  11. There;s the thing. It IS fun to watch again. The kids get on base, they keep running and pressing ...the established core isn't doing too badly either. Papi is going out in style. Pedey is Lazer Show again. And the starters, mot including Clay, are doing better and better. The pen is more than solid.
  12. I think it is funny that Comcast has dropped YES. Who would do that to the almighty Yanqui network? Hahahaha (I am watching YES, but have TimeWarner)
  13. Can you imagine if we had signed Headley? Nothing but singles and not many of them.
  14. Yanquis are playing stupidly ... poor base running. It's karma ... all those years things went their way, little things that would turn games. Tonight, so far, not so much.
  15. I like Palmer when I was a kid and he was pitching. I've not liked him much as anything else since. Especially when he opens his mouth.
  16. Ahhh now I get it. ) I don't get to watch enough games to spend the dead presidents .... (Don't cry for me ....heh)
  17. Slash, try Strikeout.co not .com For games not against the EE. Sometimes it is slow. You DO NOT have to sign in, no matter what the little windows say. It isn't always the best, but bettah than nuthin ... I live in the land of the enemy as well.
  18. Or if Young stays below the Mendoza Line.... For some reason Rico Petrocelli comes to mind. He didn't catch, that I know of. But I can still recall when they moved him over to third, he became all the more valuable... that was the first time I remember a player being moved from "his" position for the team. It was about the same time that Yaz was being asked to play some 1B ... MUCH to his displeasure. The next year I moved to Florida and lost the intimate touch of the Globe, Herald, and the local radio station coverage. But there is a growing appreciation of the super sub/multiple position player these days. I think that Swihart only proves himself greater and greater value.
  19. Hey RSDD ... you'll get used to it ... That is what I keep telling myself. heh.
  20. I know that Teddy was one of the first I ever heard of having a shift made for. I never saw it. I also don't claim to know it others had shifts .... I do remember Yaz having a shift - early memory - but not as aggressive as today. Now, outfields have always shifted for each batter. Even when I was playing LL in Rochester NH ... back in the '60's ...
