  1. Could we be looking at the Enrique Hernandez signing from the wrong angle? I know the sample sizes are not too large, but out of 74 CF'ers with 600+ innings in CF since 2017, Enrique places 7th in UZR/150 at +10.4. (JBJ is at 4.0.) Since 2015, he places 6th out of 71 CF'ers with 900+ innings in CF- just ahead of Lorenzo Cain. (JBJ is 18th at 4.9.) At 2B, he places 69th out of 72 2Bmen since 2015 at -6.7. Maybe, we should be looking for a 2Bman NOT a CF'er! Kolton Wong is still out there, right? Jonathan Schoop?
  2. We can win it all in '22, or we can trade Taillon after he finished 4th in the AL Cy Young voting.
  3. Is there some survey results somewhere?
  4. None of the trades I mentioned would come close to "decimation." I'll be thrilled if these 4 combines even play 2 years in MLB, let alone at the level Taillon is.
  5. Not impressed. Give me PIllar or a trade for a plus defender in CF and a decent bat.
  6. I wish we could have 2 of him. Right now, he's our best 2B option and our best CF option.
  7. Nats sign Lester to $5M/1.
  8. Yes, about a 20% chance.
  9. No you can't, so that's one reason I provided 4 or 5 examples. I'm not saying any would have been preferred by Ben, but my suggested offers are likely close to what it might have taken. (I bet Ben would take the one with Jimenez in it.)
  10. Only because you think a team spending over $200M a year will take 5 years to rebuild. (We're already in year 2 or 3.) BTW, your team took just days to rebuild. Remember?
  11. It's like both teams are in a competition to see who can have the most question marks on their staffs. Despite O'Day's fine numbers the last few years, he only has 42 IP over the last 3 seasons combined. He just turned 38, but at $1.75M, there is little risk.
  12. That changes everything. You win.
  13. Let's try this: here's how BTV might match the values of our prospects to those the Yanks actually gave up for Taillon: Smith OF 7.6> Yorke 2B 7.6 Yajure P 5.4> Potts 3B 5.4 Contreras P 4.8> Song P 4.6 Escotto SS 4.0> Rosario 4.0 Would you give those 4? Or? 7.6 Yorke 6.0 Chavis 5.3 Ward 4.3 Groome Or? 10.8 Jimenez 5.3 Ward 4.3 Groome 3.0 Murphy Or? 6.0 Jordan 5.3 Ward 5.0 Lugo 4.3 Groome
  14. I'm just hoping Beni can do well in his half of a platoon with Renfroe in LF. I want a reac CF'er added to this team. I'd be fine with a 2Bman and moving EHern to CF, too. He's a good defender in CF.
  15. Probably not, unless we seem some serious bounce back. Toronto has the advantage, as of now, but not by all that much. Renfore should be better on O than JBJ. EHern should be better on O than what we had at 2B, last year. Dalbec for a full season should help, but we had a .942 OPS at 1B, last year. None of these compare to the Jays additions on O. We need big bounces from JD, Devers & Beni.
  16. Saying two guys turn 32 is not the same as saying 1 guy turns 34.
  17. And, we will club their pitching, too. We added Richards and Ottavino compared to Yates and Chatwood.
  18. The health was a major factor, granted, but no way they trade him, if he was making $850K. Would you have given 4 Chavises for him?
  19. Best fWAR seasons since 2014: 7.6 Sale '17 6.2 Sale '18 5.6 Sale '15 5.3 Sale '16 5.0 Sale '14 4.8 Ryu '19 4.3 Richards '14 4.0 Ryu '14 3.7 ERod '19 3.6 Sale '19 3.3 Eovaldi '14 3.3 R Ray '17 3.2 Eovaldi '15 3.2 Roark '14 3.2 Roark '16 2.8 Pivetta '18 2.8 Richards '15 2.8 Roark '17
  20. Plus, he's their ace and should have better numbers than our #3 and #4, even when all are healthy.
  21. They took it now, because they wanted to cut $2.5M from their budget and felt it was the best offer.
  22. Two of those "stinker seasons" saw an ERA under 5 and a WHIP under 1.39. While that is not all that good for $21M, it's about what most team's 3rd or 4th starters offer, but without 200+ IP. Badenhop was not on the top of the resume, but he was a nice find at that cost. No, Ben was not great at pitcher additions, but not all were stinkers. He did worse with HRam & Pablito.
  23. I disagree. PIT is looking to dump salary. They'd trade Polanco in a heartbeat, if anybody wanted him. They are also looking to trade Feazier. No, Taillon was not the most expensive, but even at $2.5M, he was the 4th highest salary and the easiest to trade for something of value. If he was making $1M and had 3+ years of control, he's still a Pirate.
  24. That was the Yanks intent for making the deal. Both will likely end up near the line.
