  1. Are you referring to the guy who drove in 1 guy and scored another run?
  2. Dalbec has decent wheels. I mean, nowhere near as good as Vazquez, but still pretty good.
  3. Why does everyone keep saying what a great baserunner Vazquez is? Why?
  4. One of the more inglorious at bats by Devers this season. Hard swings at 2 straight breaking balls so far out of the strike zone they almost went into the dugout. Where oh where are the real Sox?
  5. Didn't anybody ever tell Arroyo you need to wave other fielders off when you know you've got that pop-up? Back to the minors for him.
  6. Rios got 3 outs in the 5th. Can he do that again in the 6th? So far so good--an easy fly to Hernandez in CF. Barely had to move--that dive was unnecessary.
  7. Great throw to 2b, and JDM still beat it. Looks like the oldest guy in the lineup came to play. Verdugo, not so much. I still haven't figured out why he carries the bat to 1b when he hits a grounder. And he was late on the soft liner to LF, plus he let it go by him.
  8. At this moment you're the only one to be put on notice. Dalbec has been up (5th most rbi's on the team) and down (usually), but he is not why the Sox are losing today--Pivetta and the rest of the lineup are. For big chunks of the season, the Sox have had no good leadoff hitter, but still won games. Richards and a couple others got hit hard by the Commish's dictum about doctoring up the ball, but the rotation overall has been decent if not great. Fielding has been erratic, but sometimes it's been pretty decent. The outfield leads MLB in outfield assists. Devers has gotten pretty reliable at 3b. Vazquez and Wong are both good defensive catchers.
  9. Swihart's Ghost is a moniker that speaks volumes--not a good fit for the Sox or Talksox.
  10. He was pitching well early on. But he also is something of a prima donna, especially when he reacts to that first Phillies hit as if he was being denied the no-hitter he deserves. The 3 run dinger this inning was all his doing, with a small assist from Vazquez who called for five straight fast balls.
  11. This game is over. The Sox ain't gonna hit the ball, and Pivetta stinks.
  12. Wow. Righty batter, and he throws five straight fastballs, the last one right in the middle of the zone. No curve, no slider.
  13. Verdugo looks half awake out there, at bat and in the field.
  14. Not a huge Vazquez fan, but over time I do think he calls a good game. Except when I get mad because the pitcher is getting hammered.
  15. Meanwhile, Pivetta is still hoping to get a no-hitter.
  16. Hey, this is yesterday's lineup. You know, the guys who can't score runs other than with the odd, lucky dinger.
  17. I would bench Verdugo after that play. He carried the bat halfway to 1b, indicating he didn't much care what happened.
  18. Great bunt by Hernandez! Works even better when it looks like he is swinging the bat.
  19. WEEI guys say Pivetta should have been backing up 3b.
