  1. Taylor in for Houck to face lefty pinch-hitter Choi.
  2. I could be wrong, but I think it just might be the Rays bullpen. Starter McClanahan gave up 5 runs in .2 innings, but the other guys have gone 5.1 scoreless innings, including the "starter," McHugh, is actually a reliever.
  3. Sure looks like it. I hope they show a replay. Arroyo slow? Who knew?
  4. If you aren't nervous now, you aren't paying attention.
  5. WEEI guys point out that Vazquez should have walked but swung at three straight pitches out of the strike zone. He was thinking home run or maybe that golfed single early in the game.
  6. As well we all should be.
  7. Three days rest. He pitched Friday and tonight is right about 72 hours after Friday night.
  8. I agree it's not a brand new game, but that's because I did not think 5-0 was going to be enough. Indeed, I said, this game is a long way from over. Let's not forget the Rays are really tough in late innings.
  9. redsoxrules is just one of those negative nellies.
  10. 5-3. Houck looking a whole lot like McClanahan tonight.
  11. 1 out. Looks like run #2 for the Rays, who excel at moving runners with or without hits. Especially Franco
  12. Houck has been great in the postseason, but so was McClanahan, who just gave up 5 runs.
  13. Really? It was a lefty batter and the ball was down the left field line and short. Pretty long run.
  14. We're the inhuman types, zombies all.
  15. I really doubt it was the elbow/arm. He just misjudged it.
  16. I remember when Dalbec was learning to play 1b and getting way more reps than Schwarber, and there is no doubt in my mind Schwarber has progressed more quickly. Much better on grounders. He likes that underhand toss to the pitcher covering first, but ERod is quickly breaking him of that habit. ERod don't do first base. But what a super 5 innings.
  17. 5-1. Still very definitely a ballgame.
  18. ERod's demeanor tonight is just like it was Friday--expressionless, calm, focused.
  19. ERod needed 17 freaking pitches to K Meadows, and it didn't seem to faze him. He got the next two out, gave up the single in the 4th, and then got 3 outs. 61 pitches for 4 innings and 6 K's and no BB's. Terrific.
  20. The good--maybe even the great--ERod is pitching tonight. 4 scoreless innings which not even Eovaldi could pull off as a starter.
  21. Schwarber is a lot better than the carping critics on talksox give him credit for. Terrible throw last night, but a solid defensive game otherwise, including fielding several grounders. More than that, when Schwarber made a good underhand toss for an out, he made it humorous, took off his cap, etc. Perfect. If you are a Sox fan and not a Schwarber fan, you are blind and ignorant.
  22. Brasier in the bullpen.
  23. I'll settle for 3 outs. This game is a long way from over.
  24. Just weird. No other word for it. ERod and McHugh, both of whom got hit in game 1--ERod gave up 2 runs and McHugh3--pitch 2 1/2 scoreless inning. In comes the ace, McClanahan, who humbled the Sox with 5 scoreless innings in game 1, who gives up 5 runs in 2/3 of an inning tonight. ERod looked awful in game 1, but moonslav reminded us he has been good at times this this year, especially in August and September. On Sep 2 he went 6 at the Trop and gave up 0 runs. Sox have one heckuva lineup. Devers with a bad wrist or whatever is like JDM with the bad ankle--dangerous.
