  1. Ya everything I've heard from interviews with scouts is that Price is the only agent this year that scouts would bank on to keep playing at a high level for 4-5 years. They also mentioned Greinke but wasn't a "lock" to them like Price.
  2. I used to watch Volquez pitch a lot back in Cali when he was with the Padres. He's a solid mid rotation arm. But they used him as an ace atleast one season. His main downside is he can be erratic. He's good for a couple of walks a game, sometimes more. But he also brings above average strikeouts. In our current rotation, he'd probably be our strikeout leader. That's assuming Buch gives you less than 130 ip. E-rod might challenge him.
  3. I know I slaughtered his name haha
  4. Ya, l know I been the minority on here. But I still think we should throw Kelly in the pen and sign another pitcher on top of Price. Maybe Samardjia or Chen.
  5. I still think the fact that Price has a career 1.85 (might be .10 off, too lazy to look it up at the moment) era at Fenway in 12 start is a clear indication that DD is going all in for him and that he is the clear cut number 1 target. He knows that. His agent knows that. Henry knows that. With that being said, there's not much getting around the overpaying part. Odds are he will give us that 3-5 year value on a 7 year contract.
  6. That'd be awesome. I'd trade him for shields in a heartbeat.
  7. I seen on mlbtraderumors that Beane put Brett on the block because he just brought Jed Lowrie back to Oakland. Im wondering if there was any way we could possibly dump Panda's contract and trade for him. Brett had a down year so shouldnt command too much. I think it would be hard to get a taker on Panda tho. Thoughts?
  8. Seen today on mlb.com shop authentic Red Sox jerseys are 40 percent off and free shipping right now!
  9. Price will get 200 I'm pretty sure. Atleast how Rosenthol and Onley are talking. I'd be surprised if he signs for 185
  10. Yep. Unless we get another second tier arm via free agency on top of our ace. And if we're going to be paying Price 6/ 180-200, I can't see us spending more than that this year on starting pitching. Atleast for now. Maybe if wee still in the hunt come July they will add another big arm to get us over the hump if need be...we just need a decent year from Buch. Maybe around 150 innings or so..I'll hold my breath for that though.
  11. Ya, that's a valid point.
  12. Not to mention Price has a 1.95 ERA at Fenway in 11 starts! Cmon DD!!
  13. Honestly, I just think with his anxiety issues that it might mess with him more in Boston. I think Boston fans/ media are a little different than L.A.'s. I spent 10 years out there back when I was in the marines and while it is a little similar, I don't think it's as bad. Look at what Ted Williams went through. And he's a legend!
  14. Like I mentioned in the other thread. I don't have anything against him and won't be upset if we don't move him. I just think we have to many middle of the rotation guys and if we get a 2nd pitcher along with our ace then he would have the most value. I obviously wouldn't want to give up E-Rod because he has a lot of potential. Owens although young and unproven should be a good low cost mid/ back rotation arm for awhile.
  15. I dot have anything against Wade. Just think we have to many middle to back of rotation pitchers and think we could get more value from him. I won't be mad if he stays.
  16. Betts and Boegarts are off limits for me. Premium position players with good contracts and lot of upside.
  17. Ya I mentioned in another thread about Kelley thriving in the back of the pen. Maybe a 7th inning/ hold type. I like that rotation. Maybe trade Miley and throw Owens as the 5th starter and bump up E-Rod
  18. He's our only shot at an ace. Grienke couldn't handle the Boston fans and media and Cueto and Zimmerman aren't true aces imo.
  19. Ya maybe your right. But I hope your wrong ha..I'm just hoping he once again chooses the AL. As mentioned previously, the thought of him wanting to possibly reunite with Maddon does make me nervous though.
  20. I think it's down to the Cubs and us. I've heard the Cards thrown in there a fair amount also. I think we have a good shot though. He knows the AL hitters so well I think he would choose us over the Cubs of the money is near the same.
  21. Here's a list of how his starter numbers compared to other starter turned relievers who thrived after making the change. Player ERA FIP K/BB K% GB% Joe Kelly 3.89 4.19 1.79 15.9 51.1 Andrew Miller 5.70 4.69 1.40 16.7 46.5 Wade Davis 4.57 4.49 1.88 16.1 38.2 Zach Britton 4.86 4.25
  22. I'm probably the minority here, but I think Kelly would be a great piece to add on the back end of the pen. On the other hand, if our starters don't keep us in the game it doesn't matter regardless. It would be nice to get our ace plus another mid rotatation guy. Then find a taker on Miley.
  23. Nobody will take Hanley with that contract. Sucks, because Shaw should be starting with that power.
