  1. Same thinking here. Just do some backroom deal where he retires. But he and the Sox nod in agreement and gets compensated. He'd be a great person in the booth once in a while, the guys flat out funny. And I'm sure he could help younger players. Heck, give him a Pedro deal. We just pay you to do nothing, but you're cool, so hang around and be cool and we will pay you.
  2. You're classic. I can get the distrust of Price a bit. With Clay, the uncertainty was worth money as you had to have a backup plan. It was time to cut bait with the guy IMO
  3. I've been thinking about this quite a bit. Money wise not sure. But I really hope he knows when to call it a career and end it. If he lingers much more and doesn't return and help, it becomes a sad sob story.
  4. It's crazy to me to think that a guy that looks horrible at the plate for about 80 percent of the season, and then turns into Babe Ruth for 20 percent will always do the Jekyll and Hyde routine. The year he doesn't he is a loss. Anyone think he is going to show up for the playoffs against good pitching?
  5. I know this isn't going to be popular. But JBJ just padded his stats in a game where we most likely would have won no matter what player you had in centefield.
  6. It's crazy how different he looks at the plate now. It's like night and day. Hope it sticks, at least for a month or so at the least.
  7. Wanted to throw this out there. We are starting a contest to see who can predict Baltimores run differential at the end of the season. First place you win amazing prizes. In general, it's just a goofy TalkSox community contest where the winner gets to win some cool stuff. Here's the thread, it's down in the contest TalkSox area. https://www.talksox.com/forum/threads/18736-Kind-of-Cool-Idea-for-Contest
  8. aahahahahaha....
  9. This is the Price we paid for. Unfortunate about the injuries he has had here earlier.
  10. Tell your friends....
  11. I forgot I posted this. Ok. we have a few people, I'm sure we'll get a few more. Heck, you three cats are people I'd want to hang out with anyway, so let's do this. Let's try to get a few more people, the more the merrier. What we are betting on: Baltimores Run Differential at the end of the regular season. Tie breaker is how many losses they have at the end of the regular season. When do you have to get your bet in? On or before July 17th. The day of the All Star game. What happens if you lose? You have to mail a gift(s) to the person who wins, hopefully within a week at the end of the regular season. The gift(s) should be in the value of around 10 to 50 dollars. If you happen to want to spend more go for it........... you get a Talk Sox big spender award. How you join? You need to PM me before July 17th with your pick for what you beleive Baltimores run differential will be at the end of the year, and how many losses you think they will have at the end of the year. On, or very close, to July 17, I'll post everyones picks. The only issue is is that at the end the person who wins is going to have to give up their address and maybe their real name. I can get that info and PM only to the people that are playing. Or, I think we could get Youk or JBay to do that if you happen to think I'm a nutty bastard of something. I also think maybe giving to a charity of the winning person option would be a cool gesture if sending a gift isn't something you want to do. Does all that sound cool?
  12. Gotta love those well executed Richochet Rabbits huh Splinter?
  13. You don't want to know what curry will do to himself if Harpers gets 700 million.
  14. Ho-ley fudge......... Jbj!
  15. First year good, second year bad. Supposed to be a lefty killer, but ended up hitting righties better is how I remember it.
  16. Young had a strange stint with the Sox
  17. Yea it is! Makes me want to listen to some glam rock.
  18. Isn't Prices elbow still possibly an issue? He elected not to have TJ correct? I thought he is just kind of hanging in there until it goes and it could go at any time?
  19. When he was really dealing, he was one of my favorite pitchers to watch. He had talent for sure.
  20. Most the time it all averages out Moon......... you know that as much as I do.
  21. I know Moon. But Mr. Yank fan was right. Our bottom batting order was horrible. And there was no arguement against it until recently. But the only thing is they were so bad, you knew they weren't going to stay that way. They just needed to get back to what they do, contribute something one in a while. Add that with our 1 thought 5 and Morelands magical year and presto chango......... Mr NY is s***ing his pants more than usual.... I got no stats to back this up, but my guess is that there are few championship teams that didn't have their bottom of the order guys get into the fray. Maybe not headline stuff, but be a part of the mix of offense.
  22. Not sure why, but I've been thinking we should do a kind of cool contest where gifts are sent to the winner. We could bet on anything. Like how many losses Baltimore has at the end of the year, or how many errors Devers ends up with minus Home Runs. Anything stupid. Now the fun part would be the winner gets to win actual cool stuff from people here on this forum. The people who entered would send the winner a prize. Something valued around 10 to 40 dollars, or what ever the contestant that lost wanted to send that person. If we got like 10 people in this, the winner would receive like 10 packages of totally cool crap from the rest of us. The thing is, is that people that want to do this and lose, actually have to take the time and box up their stuff and send. Does this sound interesting to anyone? Like I mentioned, any bet on anything is good, let's bet on something you wouldn't want to bet against the Sox, like what Baltimores run differential is at the end of the year or something. Any interest. I got multiple BBQ sauce makers down here just asking to send a jar of their stuff up north. I'm sure half of you are on a witness protection plan, so we could figure that out later as far as addresses.
  23. I seriously think Seattle is hanging on by a thread. Like one of your crazy relatives that is fairly sedated, but could lose it at any time if the meds go wrong. I give them a month at best.
  24. "no-brainer" should be that guys surname. Like Sir Robin, or Sir No-Brainer. Or even Sir Cut Bait.
  25. The only thing I can say about this is that this NEEDED to happen to be a championship team. And that it I think most people on this board were patient enough to know that this was going to happen. WELL DONE TALKSOX brothers, .........we are not total idiots, but we know things can change and can see ebb and flows. The stars will be stars, but the unsung heroes need to carry weight also to make it all work. I was sweating it out as much as everyone. I do not endorse this post, as baseball can change on the dime............. hang in there Sox........ we got a wild ride to a season ahead of us.
