  1. Oh yes. Thanks for the correction, and apologies.
  2. Did the Red Sox, or did they not, TRY to sign Mookie Betts with a competetive offer? Seems like YOUR the 10-year old.
  3. People get hung up on the "trade" in this equation. As if the Sox were ever playing from a position of strength on this. The "trade," as you call it, ONLY came about when it was made clear that Betts and Boras wouldn't accept Boston offer and were leaving in Free Agency ANYWAY. So think of Betts as someone who left in Free Agency- Johnny Damon, Jon Lester, examples, and that we got Connor Wong back as a bonus. Glad we dont have that Betts Contract on the books right now, Devers too.
  4. Point is, great player that is bound to diminish as time goes on. Let's take the "glass half full" side of this from now on. And this was all a HENRY decision, not a Chaim decision as some refer to. When the BIG Contracts come up thats Ownership, not GM. Last year's Soto Sweepstakes came down to Cohen, Steinbrenner and Henry, not Stearns, Cashman and Breslow.
  5. Sure. Just like most players would, being carried by Ohtani and others.
  6. Mookie Betts career Postseason in 89 games has 8 Home Runs with a .255 Batting Average and .741 OPS. Making him basically a 15 HR a year player with mid averages, slugging, and OPS. Frailish body wears down by October? Or just un-clutch? Take your pick. I do remember we had to CARRY him in our 2018 run.
  7. 7 years remaining, at 210 Million +, glad we dont have that deal. Glad we dont have Devers either. Mookie had a .728 OPS this year, while moving from Outfield to Shortstop. Still a good player, but a MAX player going forward??? Just cant go there. Sox are off the hook in my opinion, yeah, Betts got them the 2020 World Series, tainted as it is, but as far as the 2024 and possibly 2025 Dodgers World Series winning teams im gonna have to go with Shohei Ohtani and Freddie Freeman being the MAIN cogs. Relax, and breathe Red Sox nation. We WON a World Series with Betts already. Onward and Upward.
  8. Having the 6 seed is BETTER than having the 5-seed. Not just this year but EVERY year. Baseball has a problem.
  9. Yeah, I know all that. Having said that we WOULD have beat Cleveland.
  10. Thread title proved correct. Sox would have beat Cleveland, we mightve beaten Seattle on guile. Detroit could've knocked out Yanks. We just HAD to win game 162 and "hold on" to that 5-seed.....SMH.
  11. Welp, I hope the "you try to win EVERY game crowd" is happy with our win over Detroit in Game 162. Instead of facing easy-to-beat Cleveland, we got the buzz saw Yankees and a quick exit. Take a bow!!!!!
  12. This was probably 2005. 1995 Sox won AL East.
  13. That's the whole POINT! See original post.
  14. The fundamental flaw in MLB's Playoff system is apparent, due to not re-seeding after each round a la NFL. If we win today and "earn" the 5-seed we have to play better win percentage NYY/Tor rather than worse percentage Det/Cle if we lose and get the 6-seed. This is THEN followed by having to play better win percentage 1-seed Tor/NYY than worse percentage 2-seed Seattle in the Division Round.. The ONLY possible advantage to being a 5 over a 6 that I can see is if these 2 teams get to the ALCS Final. Then you'd be glad to have home field in a 7-game series. Seemingly a small chance of this happening though and not enough of a gain to overcome the advantage of getting to play two "lesser" teams on the way up the ladder. I would actually call this a serious problem for MLB. Anyways, in my view,, as today goes, LOSE BABY LOSE!
  15. Agree with all that, just to be clear i DID say this team had a shot at the World Series this year, even though I have reservations about the full talent level of this team. I do believe better seasons are ahead and right quick. And anyways, even with the Anthony injury this team can STILL do damage and have Roman come back and do damage.
  16. 2026 and on was always the timeline. This year was gravy, though we did have a shot at going to the WS. We need another offseason of Free Agency and trades combined with supplementing the 2026 squad with homegrown talent Tolle, Anthony, Mayer, Campbell and more. Team showed well in '25 regardless of what happens here on out.
  17. Technically speaking we can win the Division and STILL have to play the Wild-Card Round.
  18. Nothing in the world would make me want to take back that bad Contract. Great trade.
  19. I've been ON Duran's ass, but he had TWO, 3-Run Homers this week, at Baltimore and today that absolutely WON Ballgames..
  20. To me, I consider Bregman signed already. If he opts out then Sox negotiation strategy will be same as last year or even stingier. Sox were smart to go only 3 years and I dont see that changing and he's not necessarily worthy of a raise. Breg can opt out at his OWN peril.
  21. Sox need to solve 2B in the near future. We need to find this generation's Dustin Pedroia, but at this point I'll probably settle for our next Jody Reed, (sigh)
  22. Thank God Bres held firm on giving Bregman 3 years at the MOST. Doubt he'd be dumb enough to opt out on 2 for 80.
