  1. I'd like to see Iglesias hit higher in the order but I guess that will never happen. I'll be happy to see the Sox win just one out of these next two games. It's been a long road trip, and the All-Star break will be sweet for them.
  2. Are there contract issues that rise up if they don't call him up now compared to September? I'd much rather see Bogaerts hit than Snyder or Diaz, it'll definitely put the most competitive team on the field.
  3. Buchholz and Lester, though clearly the latter hasn't shown himself as such recently.
  4. Webster's K rate has been great. I remember how FOX Sports was raving about his swing-miss rate in the start against the Tigers, I felt that was a pretty good start for him (other than the first inning of course). Let's see if he can continue his recent success, I expect 6 innings of 8-K ball against this K-prone Mariners team.
  5. Even though Uehara has stepped in well as the closer, I feel the Sox need another reliever. That being said, I doubt giving up prospects is a Ben Cherington thing. It's not worth to rid of Bogearts or Cecchini to get a starter in this market, either. The only upgrades that the Red Sox need right now are in the pitching. Even if Buchholz comes back, we may have another injury bug in the works that can pop out any time this season. I suggest giving up a mid-level prospect like Holt due to the amount of depth we have at first base (and possibly another lower-level C prospect) in order to receive someone like Travis Wood. He's been a solid pitcher for the Cubs so far, he keeps ground ball rates high and walk rates low, at 2.6 per 9 IP. He doesn't strike out too many batters at 6.5 per 9 IP this year, but he's known to be a smart guy. His off-speed stuff has a lot of movement; the only problem is, I don't know if he's on the trading block.
  6. Mortensen really scares me. He always gives up a ton of fly balls but they never seem to go out of the yard. Sooner or later, he's going to Melancon it up in a few-inning span against a hard-hitting team like the Blue Jays and his ERA is going to balloon.
  7. I'm pretty sure if you pitch in the Major Leagues, anxiety should not be too big of an issue for you.
  8. I wish Iglesias would hit higher in the order. Then he'd get more plate appearances and won't need to play 125 games in order to qualify for the batting title!
  9. Something tells me Will Middlebrooks is not a 30 HR/100 RBI man right now. His HR/FB rate was extremely high last year and he strikes out far too much to be an RBI champ. I'd say give him the confidence he needs and bring him back up in September, assuming nobody gets hurt in the meantime. Don't forget, though, having Middlebrooks is a plus no matter what. If somebody does indeed happen to go down, we have a somewhat-proven Major League infielder ready to man third base. The depth in this club has shown itself well, and it's pretty incredible if you ask me. So even though he's down now, we will almost certainly see him again in the near future.
  10. Solid move. Not only does this give Middlebrooks more playing time, it gives Iglesias the versatility to play third base on a regular basis without being threatened by a (currently) poor offensive player. He's turning out to be quite the glove out there. I hope Middlebrooks is able to get back on track so we can add some quality pitching depth by trading him.
