  1. I'll take Peavy if he comes SUPER cheap at the last minute. Otherwise, forget it (and this comes from someone who has always been a big fan of his going back to his SD days).
  2. Q: Why did you take Iglesias out? Farrell: Just to get Snyder on the field. Not as if he played last night or anything...
  3. As in, he got hurt packing his bags?
  4. Ken Rosenthal says "whatever is going on with the Red Sox, if anything, does not involve Lee."
  5. That's fair enough. Though, I'm not sure I have all that much confidence in Wilson's ability and Morales' health.
  6. Agreed. What sucks though is that all of the top relievers have already been dealt. Time for Ben to get creative.
  7. Gotta say, after two shaky outings, Thornton has been very good.
  8. He still might be. Perhaps for a reliever? He showcased himself pretty well tonight, that's for sure.
  9. I would suspect that because of A) his contract and his status as a veteran, that Dempster would get the #5 spot with Doubront and Workman as long men out of pen.
  10. I hate to see JBJ go, but if the Phillies eat cash, I would a little more OK with the deal. But, still, I have serious doubts we can keep Ellsbury even if we make a huge play for him $$ wise.
  11. Wow. Nice job by Workman there.
  12. "Hearing buzz about 3-way trade talks: Peavy to #dbacks, Kennedy to #angels. Not sure who #whitesox would get."
  13. Workman is dealing. Unlike Webster, he looks big league ready now.
  14. Henry Blanco looks like he's about 55 years old.
  15. A solid start from Workman would be good tonight. I'd rather not have a situation where the FO thinks they may need to overspend for a SP because they don't think Workman can keep us in it through August.
  16. "I will be shocked if the Red Sox don’t trade for a starter before 4 p.m. ET tomorrow. They have the need. They have the prospects."
  17. Now would be an awesome time for Pedey to get out of this slump.
  18. I seriously doubt Peavy doesn't get moved, but then again, it looks like the A's have gone from favorites to backing off entirely, which would be odd unless the CWS are serious about keeping him.
  19. Maybe not favorites, but sounds like pretty damn close to it. Still not sure how I feel about Peavy coming here. Obviously, cost will come down as the deadline nears, but let's say Buchholz is back September 1 (I have my doubts). Then we have 6 starters. Who goes to the bullpen? With the way Doubront has been pitching, it's not him, and with Dempster's $13.25M/year, it isn't him.
  20. Passan says we are in a strong position to acquire Peavy.
  21. Doubront tomorrow. Workman on Tuesday vs. Saunders.
  22. http://espn.go.com/chicago/mlb/story/_/id/9516343/jake-peavy-preparing-likely-trade-chicago-white-sox
  23. Peavy apparently has cleared his locker; trade imminent.
