    I would suspect that because of A) his contract and his status as a veteran, that Dempster would get the #5 spot with Doubront and Workman as long men out of pen.

    I hate to see JBJ go, but if the Phillies eat cash, I would a little more OK with the deal. But, still, I have serious doubts we can keep Ellsbury even if we make a huge play for him $$ wise.

    A solid start from Workman would be good tonight. I'd rather not have a situation where the FO thinks they may need to overspend for a SP because they don't think Workman can keep us in it through August.

    I seriously doubt Peavy doesn't get moved, but then again, it looks like the A's have gone from favorites to backing off entirely, which would be odd unless the CWS are serious about keeping him.

    Maybe not favorites, but sounds like pretty damn close to it. Still not sure how I feel about Peavy coming here. Obviously, cost will come down as the deadline nears, but let's say Buchholz is back September 1 (I have my doubts). Then we have 6 starters. Who goes to the bullpen? With the way Doubront has been pitching, it's not him, and with Dempster's $13.25M/year, it isn't him.
