  1. This team will go through short struggles, but I just don't this team collapsing. They're too focused and too much of a tight unit to ever let anything like that happen (and in 2011, it certainly felt like they "let" it happen at times).
  2. Holy Gomes. The outfield continues to bail us out.
  3. We'll just have to walk them off. No problems.
  4. Agreed. He has looked good since the first two outings.
  5. Wow. Nava has really fallen out of favor. When was the last time he got a start? Carp is the hot bat so it is well-deserved.
  6. With him down, now is a great time to pick up ground.
  7. I don't see Norris faring well in the AL East.
  8. Cafardo: "Red Sox sniffing on Padres reliever Luke Gregerson."
  9. Cherington says he does not expect to make another trade.
  10. I wouldn't be surprised if Peavy goes Thursday or Friday and they give Dempster/Felix/Lester an extra day. Workman is scheduled for Sunday, but Peavy was scheduled for tonight so they may not want to give him that much rest.
  11. Another added bonus of Peavy in Boston: he is reunited with Juan Nieves. Should be an easy transition for all involved.
  12. My view: After this deal, we still have one of the best top 10 farm systems in baseball.
  13. We sent Wendelken, Montas, and Rondon to CWS, per Red Sox official Twitter account.
  14. This deal allows us to move Workman to the pen too. I think Workman could be huge in the pen for us. He could be a long man or a 6-7 inning strikeout guy.
  15. Peavy was supposed to be pitch tonight/tomorrow so I wouldn't be surprised if they fit him in sooner than that and give some guys some extra rest.
  16. I think Peavy can significantly help if healthy. All accounts point to his stuff being just as good as its always been. And, he's a bulldog. I think he helps and he fits right in with this team. AND, he's not a rental as we have him under control for next year as well. I'll take Peavy, despite his health risk, over getting Lee by spending the farm.
  17. I said in another thread that if we can get Peavy cheap, then we should go for it. It is sad to see Iggy go, but I love this deal. VERY well done, Ben!
  18. Iggy is going to Detroit.
  19. http://fullcount.weei.com/sports/boston/baseball/red-sox/2013/07/30/red-sox-working-on-three-way-deal-with-white-sox-tigers-to-acquire-jake-peavy/ Looks like a 3-way deal with Detroit. No JBJ.
  20. Rosenthal says its close.
  21. Levine says Iggy is what CWS would be looking for.
  22. Buster says the Peavy talks have legs.
