  1. Heyman recently brought up the fact that the Yankees lineup might have issues with balance now that Swisher and Martin are gone and A-Rod will miss most of the season. Here are the players on the Yankees who had 100 AB against lefties and had an OPS above .700. Jeter, 214 AB, .941 OPS Rodriguez, 146 AB, .924 OPS Martin, 124 AB, .880 OPS Teixeira, 175 AB, .865 OPS Swisher, 185 AB, .769 OPS Granderson, 216 AB, .762 OPS Jones, 168 AB, .705 OPS As you can see most of them are no longer on the team or will be injured most of the year.
  2. More like an A-Rod diet. He has 9% body fat.
  3. Fangraphs names Granderson and Cano as candidates for decline. fangraphs.com/blogs/index.php/cano-granderson-and-other-clifford-candidates-for-2013
  4. I would be interested if you guys would have me.
  5. Here's Trout on photo day in spring of 2012. (put .jpg at the end of these links and that will give you the url) megasportsnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/10/Mike-Trout-LAA-full-courtesy-MLBpressbox.com_-268x300 Here he is now. binaryapi.ap.org/d5320be84d8146b59d5319217c934278/512x
  6. The Dodgers would make sense considering the player he's named after. It must be strange to be a Yankees fan and have other teams willing to give out more outrageous contracts than your team. It's not so fun when you're the one being out-Yankeed.
  7. 10 years may not be a feasible request for the Yankees any longer, but there are other teams who are benefiting greatly from increased revenue and have money burning a hole in their pockets. The Yankees are no longer the least responsible team when it comes to giving out contracts. It could very well take 10 years to win a bidding contest between the Yankees, Dodgers and Nationals.
  8. 6 years/$150 is the bare minimum he'll get, 10 years/over $200 million is what he's asking for. What he'll actually get is probably closer to 8 years/$200 million.
  9. There's nothing wrong with his arm. Either BA or BP ranked him the best infield arm in the Red Sox organization three or four years in a row. Again, you guys are making an issue where one doesn't exist.
  10. He said it in a story two days ago. This web site won't let me post the link.
  11. Price wouldn't sign with Yankees.
  12. Isn't that what the Yankees refer to as "respect"?
  13. Olney had this to say: "Cano's payoff is likely to be in line with the deals recently signed by Albert Pujols ($240 million for 10 years), Joey Votto ($225 million for 10 years) and Felix Hernandez, who recently signed a seven-year, $175 million contract extension with the Seattle Mariners to become the highest-paid pitcher in baseball history." If the Yankees aren't willing to sign him to such a reckless deal, the Dodgers don't have an all-star at second base yet and Cano is named after a certain former Dodger.
  14. Trout reported to Spring Training this year weighing 240 pounds with 9% body fat. What are the chances he's clean?
  15. Bogaerts has gone 0-for-3 with 5 men LOB. DFA him to make room for Iglesias.
  16. Cano's reportedly asking for a 10 year deal worth more than $200 million and his agent is Scott Boras. Pretty safe to say he'll become a free agent.
  17. Chances are he'll be in decline for most of his next deal. It's pretty much a guarantee that he'll get at least six years but chances are he'll get more. It won't be the fiscally responsible thing to do, but I'm not sure what he alternative is for the Yankees if they don't re-sign him.
  18. Nope. I'll be in Toronto to see them that weekend though.
  19. I closed the link as soon as I realized who the writer was.
  20. That's irrelevant. A-Rod wasn't in decline when he re-signed with the Yankees at age 31 either. It's ages 33+ that would make the contract an issue. And if Cano makes it to free agency it's almost a guarantee that he'll get six or more years.
  21. The chances of Middlebrooks, Iglesias and Marrero all becoming successful major league players is remote. The chances of Middlebrooks and Bogaerts losing value if you move them from their current positions is almost guaranteed.
  22. Bard just struck out the side throwing 13 of his 18 pitches for strikes. Peter Abraham said a scout texted him saying Bard hit 94 on the radar gun. That's encouraging.
  23. Cano won't sign for anything less than $150 million, which would break down to something like 6 years/$25 million. He's not going to give the Yankees a discount just because they already have players signed to bad contracts.
  24. You don't move a 24 year old above average defensive third baseman to first base because he was a bit erratic with his arm slot as a rookie. He's fully capable of using a normal arm slot and he has a strong arm. Why make a problem where one doesn't exist? He's much more valuable staying at third base.
