  1. If you draft some college kids it wont take 5-8 years. We can make trades for guys who are near ready and/or younger kids with a coup,e years left of development...there are many ways to do it...5-8 years is not realistic unless your drafting all high schiool kids
  2. Unless the kid was King Felix at the same age, hes just another young prospect with high upside. Hes done nothing yet. i get the Pedro endorsement, but ill wait until he reallly impresses me somewhere. I hope he has a stellar career. Im just not as high on an 18yo with potential as some.
  3. They got a lot from supplemental rounds...Kopech, JBJ, Owens, etc... There are some interesting players from this years draft past round one...some good talent. Im really not too concerned with drafting right now. I think there will be a couple gems, along with some good Potential MLB player over the next three years that the Sox draft. I also think DD will make some trades to replenish the system as well... I guess im not as worried about our future because Ive seen how quickly a farm system can rebuild thru draft and trades.
  4. How about an AMC Javlin
  5. Does anyone know how Wrights shoulder has been so far this offseason? I havent read anything on him. Last i knew he was still having shoulder issues at the end of the season. I wouldnt pencil him in just yet. That shoulder lingered a while. He may still have some issues. Unless of course I missed something, which wouldnt be out of the ordinary:D
  6. Fuego....remember that one?
  7. I dont get all the worry from some folks here. How many of those prospects that we traded are going to be a big impact in MLB? A couple? Three? Three years is a long ass time in MLB to restock the farm. Besides, comparing our farm the last couple years to future farm systems isnt fair. Realistically, when was the last time we had as potent of a system from top to bottom before this last run? Its not realistic to have a system like that year in and year out...doesnt happen. I do think we can restock the farm with a top ten system within three years though.
  8. Just curious as to why you think that? He needs to get some control, but thats not a big deal for a 20yo. Hes got good, not great secondary pitches, althouh his slider will probably be a plus. His pitches are good enough right now to work off a 100+MPH FB. That gives him more time to develop the secondary pitches. Lester used to overpower guys when he was young with good, but not all great secondary stuff. It wasnt until he lost some velocity when he had to become a pitcher. So why do you think he cant cut it as a starter?
  9. 18 and 19 are the big years to lose $$ off the payroll. There will be plenty to sign our young players. Why didnt you list those years since I said over the next three? As it stands right now, They should be around 100m owed at the end of 2019, which leaves about 100m for arbs and to sign FA and our own kids. The future is really not as bad as you think it may be. Only if DD doesnt draft and develop, as well as make some smart trades. And honestly...there are guys like Mookie Betts in round 5 and Jon Lesters/Dustin Pedroias in round 2...i trust DD has a team of smart educatd scouts and stats guys hard at work looking for the next future Sox stars. To say it wont be easy is obvious. Its not easy to pick a young kid and predict his future, no matter if hes the #1 pick or #100...
  10. Isnt there some level of pressure that the kids have anyway to just get to MLB? Which is probably a lot. ALL of them have the same pressure, whether from fans, management, and most of all themselves. I was high on Kopech the most. Saw him as our "Noah Syndergaard" in a couple years. We have a nice 3 year window to draft, trade, and overall just stock the farm. No reason we cant go for a couple collage pitchers the first few rounds to have a couple guys closer to the show. I agree that losing him hurts a bit. Kopech more than Moncada for me. DDs moves will become the right ones if his team can draft and develop over the next three years. The good thing is we have some time to stock the syatem again and the financial ability to make other moves. The fact that we have a LOT of $$ coming off the books the next 3 years means we can restock the farm, sign some young players that will be up for FA and keep the flow and balance of prospect/FA/trades going.
  11. kopech was the one that hurt me. I saw him as our Noah Syndergaad type. But we got a proven CY type pitcher. Im ok with Espinoza being traded. If he was King Felix at 18 then maybe id be more bothered by it. I really Like Dalbec...ifhe can improve the hit tool a little, hes A 30+ hr at the hot corner...between him, Devers and Travis, the IF corners are covered...
  12. Ive alreay heard DD menion replenishing the farm again with a trade of a pitcher or anoher player. He identified the keepers. Were NOT going to play every prospect, so he trades them...The position players curently here are set for the next few years. Were sill in a good posiion moving forward. Im sure he farm will be built up again. TO say hes doing it all wrong is a bit premature, no? Hes done the first part, now we wait to see how he replenishes the system...cant say hes doing it all wrong before you give him a chance to actually do it...
  13. I was referring to our rotation... thats why I mentioned CY Young. Besides Kimbrel most everyone is under control anyway
  14. Nope. Not a good fit IMHO
  15. WAs thinking the same thing...Lester, Rizzo,Lackey, Koji,Ross,etc...why not Buch?
  16. Some ofmthose layers had higher rankings because of graduated prospects and tades. Basabe wouldnt have been in the top 10 as well as a couple more...not to take anything away from he kid, ut he wasnt a true top 10 IMHO.
  17. Swiharts value is as a catcher. DD isnt moving anyone in hat OF. Swihart will start in AAA with a catchers mit. Id be willing to bet on it...id also be willing to bet tha there is a very good chance hes used in a trade at the deadline. DD loves JBJ. Wanted him when he was in Detroit...if JBJ can it 260 with 25 hr and play sellar D im good wih that...not sure why your so tough on the kid. He had solid numbers last year
  18. But he still hits both well...cant say the same or jbj, but jbjs D saves his ass. I understand giving a guy a blow. I was talkin about on a regular basis replacing Beni...doesn't make sense to me.
  19. The next couple closer signing are going to make Kimbrels 13m look like a f***ing bargain. Sup MEF:cool:
  20. It makes zero sense with Beni since he can hit both R and LHP. JBJ struggles more with LHP.
  21. Im guessing he likes the tens of millions that come with making the WS and even more if they win. Then he can use that extra $$ to pay said taxes....he wont go crazy, hes not stupid. But im sure he wont hesitate to go over a little if it makes sense. Cleveland got an extra 48m for being in the WS
  22. Kopech is the only player traded that I was really really high on, but we got Sale. Providing his health is good, which is hard to predict if the medicals pass, then Im good. I expect Kopech to be a dominant MLB pitcher. Gotta give to get
  23. Too funny...hes been an MLB GM for decades but hes all wrong? Id say hes done a fine job here so far. we now have 5 young and controlled positional starters for at least three years, as well as a couple position players of need still left in the system with Dvers and Travis And Delbac. Groome is also still here. Our pitching staff is set for the next 3 years with 3 CY type pitchers! Thats pretty badass. Now, when we start to shed payroll over the next three years with guys like Hanley, Buch, Panda, etc..we will then sign our young nucleous. That gives us three more years to draft, develop and make some more trades/FA acquisitions to balance it out....actually, this is EXACTLY how you do it as long as drafting is good. Groome is a very good start...like DD said, 3-4 years is an eternity in MLB. You strike when the window is open, which it is. You may not agree with certain trades but that doesnt mean that hes "All Wrong".... far from it. Dont get so attached to prospects. Identify a few and stick with them as DD has done. Then use the rest to fill the holes.
  24. Of course there is. There was ZERO reason for his post except to show true colors. Someone has a sandy vagina
