  1. I'm still holding out hope for McCullers. I could see St. Louis grabbing him here, though.
  2. Well, 31 was the first Pap spot.
  3. Yep. I'm also thinking there is almost no chance of McCullers signing with anyone at this point. The money he can be offered is dropping quickly and he already had a chip on his shoulder about not being ranked higher prior to the draft.
  4. Good call. I really hope they take him here.
  5. I meant the EEI in the address.
  6. Anything over 100k in rounds 11-40 will count against the 1-10 bonus pool.
  7. I can see the Yankees grabbing McCullers if Texas doesn't. They haven't had much luck with 100mph hurlers in the minors lately, though. Betances has been a mess since they signed him and Brackman literally fell apart.
  8. Yeah, the only thing I can think of is that they picked a guy they think they can sign for less than the slot cap so they can free up money for tougher signs that fall to later picks.
  9. Before this season he was expected to be one of the, if not the top hitting shortstop in college ball. Of course, that argument, must like a batting average dependent OBP is rather hollow.
  10. No sir, I don't like it.
  11. Well, he's available. Here's hoping the Sox think they can convince him to sign.
  12. McCullers is going to be a tough signability guy, but his raw stuff is through the roof. Not sure you take the chance of him dropping another 6 picks if you want him.
  13. I like Stroman better, but either would be really solid at 24.
  14. I'm really hoping Stroman lasts two more picks.
  15. They may have evaluated him differently than you (and most everyone else). But yeah, I see what you mean now, with holes in the system being the driving force rather than the major league roster.
  16. I don't think any teams draft for need, though. No prospect is going to be ready soon enough after you draft them that drafting for need makes any kind of sense. You don't know what your roster will look like in 2 or 3 years. And in the rare instances where you draft a guys who could be ready in a season, it's the generational talents like Harper and Strasburg or the odd situation like Craig Hansen (which didn't work out, obviously), so it's a pick for talent anyway. Some teams might pick for organizational depth (or lack there of), I guess... but it seems most teams get that you should take the best talent you can.
  17. He's not healthy, but he'll get there. So we're now looking at the Nats drafting the two biggest can't miss studs in the last decade (or more) in Strasburg and Harper, then drafting the guy who was supposed to be the first pick in this year's draft before he got hurt this year. Giolito could end up being the best pitcher from this draft.
  18. And there he goes...
  19. Sure, but not enough of one for him to drop to 24.
  20. With the success rate of Tommy John surgery, I don't see how that would be a huge long term consideration. If he's hurt, you put him under the knife right away, he's back on a mound by the all star break next year. I can see it causing him to drop a little, with other top of the rotation talents available, but he's certainly not dropping to the Sox.
