  1. And just as I post it, Gonzalez out.
  2. If Gonzalez is banged up from the dive last inning, yeah. Otherwise, Sweeney in for Middlebrooks, Youk to third, Adrian to 1st.
  3. http://guideofawesome.files.wordpress.com/2011/12/bob.jpg Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you said...
  4. At least W/L measures an outcome of some kind. A quality start is just an arbitrary number of innings and an arbitrary number of earned runs that supposedly mean a start was good. But yes, wins and losses are pretty useless, as is the save. Lots of stats really don't mean much.
  5. Shades of Grady Little right there...
  6. Nope. He's labored through 6. Let him sit down with a quality start (most useless stat in baseball) and hand it to the pen.
  7. For all their faults and injuries, this team is still one of the top hitting clubs in the majors. Wow.
  8. At least he admits it when he's pitching like crap. Unlike a certain slack jawed west coast transplant rotting away on the DL right now who would always say "I made good pitches, they just got to me" no matter how awful his slop was last year.

  10. Well, 7 pitch innings are a great way to get to the 7th or 8th inning.
  11. He's streaky, but when he's on he's one of the most dangerous hitters in the majors.
  12. Which member of the Sox stuck a horseshoe in their jock today? Wow.
  13. Thankfully, John Lackey isn't on the mound and won't be on the mound at any point this season. So I'll just enjoy the Leyland meltdown.
  14. Doubront has been such a wonderful surprise this year. I thought he was headed for a LOOGY spot in the pen. Glad to have been wrong there.
  15. Long time Sox fan here. Fell in love with the team in 86, when I was an impressionable boy of just seven years. Of course my choices at that point were love the Sox or find somewhere else to live, so at least I can blame one of my vices on my father. I love looking at the team analytically and will often use somewhat more advanced stats like xFIP or wOBA and will refer to pitchfx data pretty regularly. I'm also a bit of a prospect whore. Anyway, not much more to say that anyone here has any reason to care about, so I'll just say go Sox and I'll see you guys in the game threads.
