  1. The bench is so thin that it wouldn't surprise me if Bogaerts was playing up here before August/September too. If they can get Bradley on the field 75% of the time then keep him up here. Ellsbury will get dinged up this year at least once or twice, let's be real about this. I don't know what the Sox think long term of Ellsbury, but my guess is they are probably gonna take a good amount of calls regarding Ellsbury. Do the sox really need Gomes as an everyday player? Of course not, give it to the kid who has more to gain, and from what i've seen is a way better player. Bradley is a great athlete, changing from CF to LF or RF will not be a problem
  2. He didn't go to college. He's from Aruba, he was signed as an international free agent as a 16 year old, like most South American and Caribbean players
  3. Yeah he seemed pretty comfortable at the position from what I saw. Of course professional level catching is a whole different ball game. I was just saying if needed I suppose to he could be trained at first, but yes i'm sure he does have what it takes to stay with his natural position. Surprisingly the draft seems to be fairly deep with catchers
  4. I think he's way above AAA competition at this point. To me it's pointless to keep him there
  5. I like this Reese McGuire kid. He's slated to go a little later in the first round than the Sox pick, but he's got a pretty fluid swing. Probably the best catcher in the draft, at least for HS prospects. There's always the chance they could try and develop him into a 1B, he's got good size too 6'1 - 190
  6. Jackie Bradley is ready right now! If Farrell is smart he'll get him a spot on the roster for this season. He can be a contributor to this team. I pray they don't start him in AAA. That's all, just needed to get that off my chest.
  7. Youkilis took longer than he needed down there. He was ready a good year before they brought him up. So maybe not "stuck" but certainly "delayed" alot of times. The next guy who's gonna be delayed longer than he needs to be is Barnes in AA, guarantee it. Jackie Bradley could start for some Major leage teams right now. So this is another case of being "delayed". Sure having Victorino is nice, but are they that afraid to bring in a kid? I mean cmon
  8. Well they don't wanna just throw him over there and hope for the best. Profar is obviously gonna take the SS position from him. And they are probably evaluating him a bit at third as well to give them a better idea of where he may end up
  9. I think I may have already stated this, but the sox are apparently looking to play him a bit at third. Can't remember where I read that though, sorry. I'm pretty sure it's only to get him ready for the WBC though. The Dutch team is stacked with infielders and Xander is apparently the guy screwed out of his "natural" position. The Sox will definitely have a better idea where to go after this spring training
  10. I agree! I'm very Pro-Bogaerts in the sense that if he does well in the WBC and spring training then why not?
  11. Iggy is 2 years younger and I know I can't be the only one who looks at age as a big factor in development. For all the guys on here saying they shouldn't rush Bogaerts and Bradley, look at it like this. Iglesias is only 23, on average most guys don't break the roster with the RedSox til 22-24 anyway
  12. Couldn't have said it any better myself. From what i've read on Bogaerts it sounds like he's oozing with confidence too
  13. The Sox are just overly caucious with prospects. They think they'll get their confidence shattered to pieces from a couple K's. Maybe they're right too, it all depends on the players psyche
  14. I hear what you guys are saying. I'm just a believer in if a player is ready why wait? I know it's damn near impossible he'll see any time at Fenway this season, maybe September call up. I will admit I completely blanked out with Drew penciled in for the SS duties. Anybody but Jose please!
  15. I was really hoping to catch of few of their games too. Bogaerts and Profar is gonna be an insane infield. Hopefully MLBN airs a couple in the states
  16. Just stirring up the pot here, but what if he kills it at the WBC? Has a couple bombs off some top of the line Dominican pitchers or something? Will the RedSox look at his performance in the WBC and re-evaluate him for a possible opening day spot? Crazy yes, but it's just a thought
  17. Even if one of those kids is Xander? If the RedSox are indeed giving up on Iglesias a bit as SS, then maybe it's because they've finally figured Bogaerts can handle the position. I've heard they're going to play him a bit at third though, but only to get him ready for his Dutch duties in the WBC. I still like him at SS
  18. I think it's really good how the media isn't bashing the players right now with 'World Series" questions right off the bat. The goal is obviously to win it all, but the pressure seems to have gone down from previous years. Anybody who's watched the Bucholz and Lackey interviews on NESN knows this
  19. As much as I hate to say it, with the recent guard injury to Barbosa, The Cs may need to give Delonte a call. That's a scary thought
  20. Any idea if any of this will be televised? MLB Network or something? I'm sure ESPN wouldn't bother cause if it doesn't have LeBron or Tim Tebow involved, so they're not interested. Also who's your pick to win it this time around?
  21. Doesn't his deal max out at like 1.5 million with all incentives? Poor Dice-K
  22. I'm just glad Bogaerts is there, and to a lesser extent Bradley. It's unlikely he'll be at Fenway before August/September, but I hope they'll at least start him this season in Pawtucket. Hopefully he's been working on his game this summer and off those Aruban beaches
  23. If Morneau is available then why not him? Better OBP, Avg, etc. Last season he proved he can be durable once again, only missing 25 games or so. I'd put Morneau before Morse
  24. Anybody know what their budget is now with Henry and Werner? I've been a Liverpool supporter since I was a kid, but i've been trying to find out what their budget is looking like lately and it's been hard searching.. Any idea? Anybody?
  25. I've been campaigning Bogaerts getting some early looks for a long time now. Glad to finally see someone else come out and say it. Aviles is absolutely not an everyday SS and Iglesias isn't ever going to evolve into a top of the lineup guy. It's a stretch, but it would be great to see Xander get a look next season
