  1. You hit it right on. If I am Cora why would I automatically go back to Boston. I am sure there will be other clubs out there that would be far more attractive to him than Boston. Now that Cora has a World Series win to his resume and a clean bill of health regarding his 2018 title, he is in the cat bird's seat. I am sure it is not lost on him how quickly Henry goes south on title winning skippers. No I wouldn' t think Cora will be too excited to.coming back to Boston. unless they literally outbid every other Club wanting his services.
  2. I will be surprised if the Sox fire or demote Roenicke merely to bring Cora back. I suspect that Cora will have other more attractive opportunities than Boston. I suspect he will be able to pick and choose among several offers some with better money than Boston.
  3. Regardless of the wind speed, hot humid air apparently causes the virus to travel not as far as the virus does in the same wind as in dry air. Furthermore the virus dies quicker in the hot humid sunlight than it does in no sunlight. As one prominent physician said one is probably safer on the beach than in a grocery store.
  4. The studies suggest that heat and humidity when at a certain level impede the droplets which contain the virus from traveling. The virus travels farther in dry air than hot humid air.
  5. There is increasing scientific evidence that suggests that being outdoors present far less risk to viral spread. The fact is having spent more than ten years living in the tropics, I can attest that we spend an inordinate amount of time indoors in air conditioning when being outdoors is generally far healthier.
  6. I seem to recall reporting which indicated that they were former players of the Red Sox.
  7. If the DHS's scientists are correct and heat humidity and sunlight are an effective deterrent to this virus then we may see day baseball with fans in July and August in select cities.
  8. While I think Cora will manage again, I don't think it will be in Boston. I suspect that some other team will pick him up about 30 seconds after his suspension has officially ended.
  9. I think one of the big problems negotiating contracts right now, is no one real knows the business climate in 2021 regardless of the medical situation. Will the economy be strong weak or so so? I think it is really premature to commit multi million dollars given the uncertainty economically.
  10. My two favorite Remy and Orsillo moments were the praying mantis and Judge Judy and the donuts!
  11. Mlb.would have to.ban players spitting. Baseball players spit constantly. The union would probably grieve. LOL
  12. To be.perfectly safe how about robot players too.
  13. If there are no reported cases for several weeks then I would probably go.
  14. I wasn' t referring to baseball when I said he was borderline in other ways.
  15. Belle was also a borderline in other ways as well.
  16. Of course it didn't. Why would any manager or GM want that headache regardless of where they are in the standings?..The answer they don't. Puig is a horrible role model for up and coming players. Any team he plays for is asking for trouble. Puig brings nothing to the table but problems.
  17. Puig is just more trouble than he is worth
  18. Gladstone is reportedly to have uttered something similar in 1898.
  19. It is highly questionable whether Mark Tawain ever actually first said that.
  20. High School football will eventually disappear.
  21. Because we are all bored, I googled the following question. The number of participants in golf, baseball and football. The results may be surprising. Although the NFL may be the most popular Televised sport by ratings, number of Americans playing tackle football has steadily declined from 8.4 million in 2006 to 5.6 million in 2018,https://www.statista.com/statistics/191658/participants-in-tackle-football-in-the-us-since-2006/. The number playing has remained relatively steady from 14.59 million in 2006 to 15.67 million in 2017 https://www.statista.com/statistics/191626/participants-in-baseball-in-the-us-since-2006/ While Golf has shown an increase to 24 million in 2018.https://www.golfadvisor.com/articles/golf-participation-rises-ngf No matter how you look at it the number young people actually playing organized American football is steadily declining. That can not be seen as a good thing for the long term viability of that sport.
  22. Robin Williams hilarious take on golf:
  23. At one time people said the same thing about boxing, horse racing, and bowling. Here in Delaware American football is clearly not as popular as it once was. I see children playing catch with lacrosse sticks, baseball gloves, or kicking soccer balls back and forth. What I don't see is kids playing pick up football games the way they did years ago.
  24. American Football will at some point in the future will suffer the same relative loss in popularity as baseball and horse racing. I recall when I was a boy high school football games were played before SRO crowds, now not so much. My 15 grandchildren aren't as interested in football as I was when I was their age. Sports have a natural progression. Of my 11 grandsons, only 2 play American pee wee football. One of those also wrestles btw. The older ones never played American football. Their parents are so concerned about concussions I don't think they will ever allow them to play beyond middle school. I see that concern as a growing one.
