  1. Did ESPN bleep Papi?
  2. I think that is Pedey's top highlight film play so far this year.
  3. Wonder why they switched home plate umps. Is one of them feeling more blind than the other today? I assume the one that is having trouble seeing is behind the plate.
  4. Whoa big fella'.....Double take city.....thought the language thing had thrown me a curve....
  5. I guess not everybody in Fenway today saw the Bruins pre-game from the other night.
  6. Dick and Rick Hoyt part of the Fenway pre-game. Man how many miles has he pushed that wheelchair in actual marathons and training runs. Seems to me I have been watching them for what must be what.....20 years now?
  7. Amazing how good Lester and Buch have been in their first few starts of the year and how critical it has been to the Sox and their start as a team. We all expected that their contributions would be the most critical but my God....They have started seven games between them. They have won six of the seven outright and if I am not mistaken, the Sox won the seventh game which was a Lester no decision.....Unbelievable..... I only wish Lester would one day look a little more comfortable on the mound and look like he is throwing more freely, obviously without letting his motion get all out of whack. I would love to see what his velo and his movement would be if he was able to throw more freely while still throwing within himself. However, that is a selfish desire. How can you argue with this much success? My wishful thinking is only wondering how dominant he could actually be. Is his ceiling even higher than we tend to envision? As for Buch, I just want him to stay healthy for a whole season. I don't see anything in his throwing that leaves me wondering "what if".
  8. My vote would be just start a new thread.
  9. Thanks Bell, my own fault. After you posted I went back and realized I had not done the sort I should have and did not bring up the right info from the ESPN web site.
  10. Did one of MLB's starting pitchers get to 4-0 yesterday? I thought I had heard that in passing but could not find anything on it today.
  11. You know I was not really going to say anything about this stuff but now you guys are doing it in the game threads. Its not bad enough you have do this s*** post after post in the other threads but now its in the game threads! What the hell does all this back and forth have to do with a game thread? Come on....stop please!
  12. Sometimes the unexpectedly heavily armed adversary is more difficult to come to grips with than the highly trained adversary. They know exactly what to expect from the trained adversary. All they have to do is look in the mirror. However it was likely still something of a surprise that these two brothers had so much ordinance prepared for example. One of them did run out of bullets. Maybe that is an indication of their lack of training. "Can never have enough rounds".
  13. By the way, I should have added that there is no reports of the younger brother being wounded but they riddled that car with bullets early this morning. In an odd twist, the older brother may have saved the younger brother's life by getting out of the car as the officers focused on taking him down instead of just shooting into the car itself. Even with that if the younger brother was missed entirely that would be kinda' surprising.
  14. Patience at the plate is a combination of eye and attitude. Not sure he could have sort of "thought" his way there. He may "learn" to be more aggressive at the plate. Now you are gonna' make me strain my brain to try to figure if he let good pitches to hit go by. I actually don't think he did. However I could also be wrong.
  15. I would have loved to have seen Masterson back here in spite of his poor showing the other night. I would bet money that he would thrive under the watchful eyes of Farrell and Nieves. Whatever we might think of Tito, managing and handling pitchers was not his strong suit.
  16. They will right books about this manhunt, firefight and lockdown probably several as it is most extraordinary. Just the lockdown of a community as large as metro Boston is pretty incredible. I would not be surprised if the younger brother has not already succumbed to wounds somewhere and that is why they have not found him yet.
  17. As of right now they are asking Boston residents to stay off the streets, lock their doors and windows and not open them to anybody but a public safety official with ID. They still think the kid is in Watertown somewhere. So for Watertown residents it is truly a matter of personal safety. For the rest of the city it appears to be a matter of making way for public safety personnel to move freely. However the longer he stays out there, the more likely he can make his way out of Watertown. So maybe there is a personal safety aspect to the recommendation to the rest of metro Boston as well.
  18. If we are lucky at least from the perspective of the future for JBJ and the Sox, he will stay down for the entire year or at least till call ups. He has much to learn and would clearly benefit from a season at AAA. So guys can jump from AA to the Majors and some can't. No reflection on him or his potential but he needs the work at the AAA level.
  19. WEEI announcing that both Bruins and Sox games are cancelled for tonight. Traffic has just started moving at a snails pace around Boston. Watertown is basically locked down. Nothing is or has been moving there.
  20. Lester has made very few mistakes tonight and has pitched the same sort of game he has been pitching. This is the year of the unpredictable Lester. Has kept the hitters off balance again, able to get pitches over at three different speeds, seemingly using them whenever he wants to use them.
  21. The umps are certainly worse so far this year....almost unbearable...in fact they finally crossed the line and are unbearable.
  22. Whoa...Tito 113 pitches for the starter. Slow down there big fella. McAllister might not have been feelin' it tonight but Tito was. Actually he is probably trying to save his pen.
  23. Aviles used to try to stretch alot with us also. He has that funny short legged running style. Looks like he is going hard but he really isn't getting anywhere. That was really a very good play from out on the warning track by Nava. He got it in quickly and made a pretty accurate throw.
  24. Nava almost got Aviles at 2nd on that play.
  25. Wish he could have pounded that out and made them pay for that. It was the right play by the Guardians but ya' gotta' think even a base hit would have done Gomes a world of good.
