  1. Linkage to the Lester thread. Hitters are getting the ball in the air on Jon.
  2. Allergies was what Don uttered right at the very start. But I can surely believe pneumonia. The like between chemo and pneumonia is well known and is actually very serious if that is at the root of the issue.
  3. Been worried about that lately as this is getting to be a pretty long stint for the allergies cover story.
  4. As hot as Ortiz has been just in the last couple days I have noticed he is gunning for some pitches lately that are just not his pitch to hit. K'ed there on a ball that was not close to the zone, low and outside. Hope it is not a trend as David's history when he slumps is to fall into some bad habit that just hangs on and hangs on.
  5. Between the two I think resting Vic would have made the most sense. He is still grimacing just about every time he moves and getting up off the ground he looks like a folding chair and a stiff one at that.
  6. It is going to sound like an excuse but I don't wonder that being staked to such a big early lead did not help Lackey as much as we would have liked. It is too early to just rear back and throw strikes. But six runs is a rare 1st inning bounty and enough to feel sort of fat. I can believe it could have thrown Lackey off his game. Then between the ump and Rays dropping their bats dramatically at home plate thinking foul balls where HR's he was sort of defocused I thought. That whole thing was sorta' weird anyway. Nobody can judge whether a guy has paid his dues and can toss his bat dramatically or not and we have as many if not more guys doing it than the Rays have. The whole thing is sorta' stupid if you ask me.
  7. Unless the Sox do end up with an abundance of starting pitching, the price for Lester might be such that they can keep him. Only reason to move him would be cause they do have better options and more options within the organization. I would think that less likely, not more likely. Hurray for us if that is the case. But, you can never have enough pitching.
  8. I think it looked like Joyce was saying "that was a fastball" when he was barking at Lackey for hitting him.
  9. Thank God the death march is over. Very happy we won this. Usually that f*** face Maddon is walkin' outta' these with that f***ing cheshire cat grin of his. WMB's swing looks as bad as it does cause he does not know what he should be swinging at nor why. Just because a pitch is a strike does not mean the hitter should be swinging unless there are two strikes and he has to protect. He swings at too many pitcher's pitches many times setting himself up for them. He often swings at pitcher's pitches that are not even strikes, No matter...swinging at a pitcher's pitch unless you have to is a bad idea.
  10. Well Will, you certainly set yourself up for that
  11. Wow Salty....got ta' give to ya'
  12. Not going to give up Pedey at the plate just to move Vic. You can see why here. Give up an out only to have Ortiz intentionally walked? Had to let Pedey hit there. Farther down in the order and would have been a more likely chance to see the bunt.
  13. Hell of a play by Vic on a gimpy hammy
  14. Two strikes...Pedey's got him where he wants him now
  15. Man Frenkis just does not stop treating innings like they are two outs long. That pitch to Scott should have been launched...
  16. Yup...he WAS Wednesday's pitcher.
  17. WMB what the f*** are you doing? I have to admit Salty has impressed me at the plate this year. If he would just become reliable behind the plate...that would be enough with his hitting. He does not have to be flashy back there. I don't need to see these pick off plays all over the diamond...forget it. Just make the plays he should make...don't turn every pop up into an adventure .and set up so that he does not always have to stab at the ball when he should just be allowing the ball to get to his mitt...that is it...I would be happy with that. That also means he would not be hovering over the middle of the plate all the time. So that would kill two birds with one stone.
  18. Thank God this is not a four game series. Rays are the most frustrating team in baseball to play. By the time you get to game 4 of one of those you just want to get the hell outta' town.
  19. Franke warming....were is dmac when we need him.
  20. What was the matter with that pitch Gomes...got too much of the middle of the plate for your liking?
  21. Oh come on David that is not even your pitch man!
  22. Ball or no Pedey had to swing at that. Can't leave the game in the hands of the ump with a pitch that close...especially since Pedey was tyring to push the ball to RF anyway. Would have been nice to have two on and Ortiz coming up but I ya' gotta swing at that. Hey everybody makes a mistake though. Pedey is still one of only two guys I would have wanted up in that situation.
  23. He is so trying to push that to RF
