  1. I am still having difficulty with the amount of time Drew gets out there at SS. I would still prefer that WMB continue to get AB's at 3rd with Iggy sharing time with both WMB and with Drew at SS. I am simply not all that impressed with these occasional 3-3 hitting performances by Drew when they are sunk in between three and four Ofers in a row. Not so impressed that I am willing to see WMB just eat pine every day. If they can get WMB back on track he gives them so much more than Drew can even begin to give them. If not then bite the bullet and send WMB down so he can bat every day. Seeing Iggy at 3rd and Drew at SS every day does nothing for me.
  2. Now Felix only going 5 becomes a problem because we don't have the two studs at the top sucking down big innings. You can afford a guy like Felix in your 5 hole if you are making up for it somewhere else. We have a lotta' guys but Farrell will use them up quickly at 1 inning per.
  3. Gotta' really appreciate how this Sox squad scrambles...game after game. The season is so damned long though. Makes you wonder how long they can keep it up unless Buch can come back soon and as good as he was early. While guys have pitched well this year without Buch there is nothing there you can rely on game in and game out. You could say that Felix will reliably give up runs early and MAY eventually turn in a decent to good performance on a given day. You could say that Dempster will likely do about the same. No idea what to expect from Lester these days and the 5 hole is a rotating cast. The way Lackey has pitched you could make the case that it is all good as long as Buch is there cause Lackey almost replaces the best Lester was producing early. Only problem there is we likely don't know if Lackey can keep it going first year back like this. As much as we focused on Ortiz in the off season with the injuries and what have you the pressure on his spot in the order has grown to gargantuan proportions.
  4. Thank God for speed in CF. That said this is not the start we would have hoped for.
  5. I was willing to give Buch the benefit of the doubt on the "fragility" issue all the way up to this year. This was the year he HAD to get through a full season or at least close to it and I would have considered it history. Instead he ends up out for a month instigated first by getting up with a stiff neck and then having that grow into a bigger issue??? That is just ridiculous and maybe his most damning situation with regard to being a fragile starter.
  6. Sox gotta' find a way to get Buch back out there. Is there such a thing as a neck transplant?
  7. In the mean time the Bruins are basically giving away the Stanley Cup.
  8. Imagine what a crazy place it was at the original dims?
  9. The longer Buch stays out the more it looks like the Sox will have to make a judgement call about some sort of addition to the rotation that actually has a shot at pitching like a ML starter. This whole "somebody and then Frankie" thing looks like a loser.
  10. Good learning experience for Webster. Nieves was smart to get him out early with a positive experience. No reason to believe he won't be in the rotation surely by 2015 and maybe next year.
  11. He is getting ahead. Tigers are notoriously aggressive as hitters but they are swinging at far too many first pitches...most of them balls that would have had the hitter up in the count. Even though the Tigers already have 5 runs, if the had just been less aggressive they probably would have had him out of the game by now. They would have forced Webster to his FB which they are pounding.
  12. Has any team the Sox have faced this year looked as bad in the field as the Tigers? When Jackson is missing from Center they are really pitiful.
  13. If the Tigers all start taking that pitch Victor just took Webster is done for the night.
  14. Looked like Hunter beat that throw after all. Nice tag Pedey.
  15. Nice job Salty....how I wish he could be that accurate regularly cause he does seem to have a strong arm....Salty gunned the runner down there.
  16. Thank Christ for the DP
  17. There is more to pitching than stuff and Webster has already proven on more than one occasion that he is just not ready to be here. Same deal.....most young pitchers are totally unprepared for seeing virtually every mistake pitch they make coming back the other way with a vengeance. He has great stuff but he is just not a ML pitcher yet. The other thing I don't like about the Sox using Webster this way is that I think it is really having an impact on his confidence. Every time he leaves the mound lately he looks like he wants to put a gun to his head.
  18. Sox really forced into a box with the rotation now. Webster should not be here but here he is. Might just have to settle on Aceves and try to make something happen through trade at some point.
  19. I f***ing hate waste pitches. 1-2 should have gone after him there. Probably going to walk him now. In fact Prince swung at ball 4
  20. I just hope Pedey has not heard the recent media comments about the lack of power and is trying to respond to them. Those opposite field extra base hits and base hits have turned into dribblers and DP's and he looks like he is trying to jerk the ball out more lately. I wish the media and fans generally would just let Pedey alone with the power numbers BS. He gets plenty of Extra Base hits when he is going good. Can't we just be happy with that?
  21. Be a good idea to get Webster some runs early if possible
  22. Don't know how many folks caught the latest in the battle between hitters showing up pitchers and pitchers showing up hitters ala' Ray's pitcher Archer and our Nava. O's O'Day and Joey Bats are into the same sort of battle. Bats dusted off O'day and the O's with a game winning HR. Rounding third Bats was yapping at O'Day. Looked like he was saying "keep talkin" but check the scoreboard big mouth.
  23. Buch misses another session on the side date today...neck stiffness still to much of an issue. That blows away a month of the season. At least for my money, Buch is officially plastered with the label....Fragile. He has been out for such a long time now there is no telling what he will be when he does finally come back.
