  1. Felix is featuring a better curve ball this year than I have ever seen him throw. Makes me wonder if Nieves has worked on that with him or Pedro or Farrell. Somebody did something because the change is just too large to ignore or just right up to a maturing player getting better. The only curve I have seen thrown by a Red Sox pitcher that might be better is Workman's when he is on. If it is better, it is not by much.
  2. SFF is very optimistic. Bad plays send his mercury right through the top of the vile but it really has nothing to do with his optimism. The Sox have played tight, ugly, pressing baseball to start the post ASB period, fortunately against a team that does not have any offense and could not take advantage but once. They will have to play better the rest of the week.
  3. You should not be obsessing over a guy leaving and doing well elsewhere. It is about having an excess in one place and a hole somewhere else. Can I move my excess to fill my hole. Unfortunately, the Sox hole is pitching. So, even if Lackey is a trade chip, I don't see Lackey traded this year. You just cannot even take yourself seriously as a team without good pitching. The lack of it may well be the monkey wrench in this Sox season.
  4. He barely got it past the pitcher's mound.
  5. Whole team needs to get its swagger back. This team looks more like it is ready to soil its undies than anything else. Almost like they know they have overachieved to the break, midnight is coming and they are feeling like pumpkins. This is the the team that is supposed to hold off the Rays and O's.....I am to say the least skeptical.
  6. You mean you can't wait to see Salty flash that arm?
  7. Get the f*** outta' here Drew. I don't want to see your ass again.
  8. Man this looks like a team that is pressing real bad....Ortiz just about refused to be walked there and you just can't do s*** like that. Meanwhile Napoli let a nothing FB right down main street just go right by. Heck if you are not looking to swing at that as a RH hitter what the hell are you looking to swing at?
  9. I think Vic twitched the hammy right there. Seen enough of what he looks like when he gets the hammy zinger. Says to me it is going to be like this the remainder of the season.
  10. Jeez that half inning has me sick to my stomach. Holy s***,,,how do you come out of the ASB like this. It is almost uncanny how often Sox teams, this year, any year come out of the break playing like s***. This is the part of the game that traditional Red Sox Management has never been good at and it is like they follow each other right into the same gutter every year. This is also why I hate guys like Madden and Showalter. Those guys don't ever seem to miss the opportunity to gear their teams up physiologically. It is like those teams came out of the break, loose, ready for a fight and we came out of it tight, pressing and mistake prone.
  11. The most annoying thing about watching Salty from the right side is that he never tries to dump that pitch into right field. If Salty hits the ball to right from the right hand side it is by pure accident.
  12. I just hate to see us beating ourselves and we are doing a lotta' that right now. Better defense won't solve everything but we are starting to lose our identity a little bit. We can stop the stupid base running and improve the defense. Then we gotta' make moves to resolve the remaining issue....pitching. We are pressing to some extent.
  13. I think we should give up on Drew. He does nothing at the plate and Iggy needs to be at SS. Have we not given Drew enough time to show us something...anything besides his usual 2-32 stretches.
  14. Our defense sucks generally. We could be at the bottom of the league by the time this week ends. Too many guys playing out of position and the worst front line defensive catcher in the game.
  15. Oh s***....Not sure I am real anxious to see Taz here.
  16. Can never have enough .......outfielders......what the f*** did I just say:D
  17. Hey Dempster got farther than he should have and even got a few pitches below the belt line...not many though. One thing you have got to respect about him is that I have never seen him fall apart on the mound even when everything was going badly and he had nothing...much like tonight and his last few outings before tonight. Could you imagine how down in the mouth and defeated some of our other starters would be pitching as poorly as that? Jeez you would have to issue a suicide watch for a couple of them.
  18. Jeez, Cespedes has not played since the HR Derby???? Holy Crap. I know that MLB makes a fortune on it for some reason...I can't watch it for the boredom. How many times does s*** like this have to happen before they change the length of it or change something.
  19. The chant is more meaningful to me in years when the Yankees are playing good baseball. Cause then it means...your pinstripes suck, your clean shaven faces ******** sucks, your bandbox stadium sucks, your announcers suck, your stupid 10 year A-roid contracts suck etc etc. When they are playing this poorly, well it just does not have the same meaning and is not as much fun for me.
  20. I would say that CC has done a better job on the downside of his FB velo than lets say Beckett did. For guys that throw the way CC does a couple miles an hour are a big deal and it ends up changing the other things he does on the mound. Heck he struggled in this ballpark when he was on top of his game. He can't be looking forward to games here.
  21. Remember the first year Iggy bunts....things of ugliness....he has really worked hard to get here and stay here this year.
  22. The anemic nature of the Yankee order is helping demps here though. Maybe he gets to 4 or 5. But he is really not throwing any better than he was earlier in the game.
  23. Naps gets around on one....thank God.....really had his hands up the bat handle there...probably a good idea for him.
  24. Sacrifice this early down 3??? I think I would prefer to rally thank you.
