  1. Mentioned that Sale looked good so far earlier. Good thing because other than the Changeup meatball to Mookie we are doing NOTHING so far.
  2. Sale looking good so far
  3. JD proves you REALLY have to hit it poorly to get a measly RBI base hit these days.
  4. JBJ stops at a gas station and picks up a road map to home plate from 3rd base.
  5. Beni uses the vaunted Leon Foot technique!
  6. Which means all he has to do is tap this baseball in the right direction off the barrel and its going. True, he does not "tap" it that often. It might end up interesting to see Davis's HR:H ratio by year end. This year it might be something truly goofy.
  7. I will take that. Brasier got away with a pitch to Davis that he should have put out on Sausage and Pepper Sub row out there in RF. This could have been worse.
  8. Good pitch by Brasier. Had Ruiz all screwed up.
  9. As a relief pitcher you really have to give him a clean inning. It can take some time for him to get rolling. So it stands to reason that if he was stretched out, once he got rolling in a starting stint he might just have a few innings in him.
  10. What the heck is Cora doing. This is the wrong park and maybe even the wrong year for this stuff. This game will be won on HR's. All the runs have been scored on HR's and all the runs very likely WILL be scored on HR's. I get it Alex. But pick your park the "official" ML baseball. We have had three cheap HR's and two well struck. - the X HR was hit off the end with one hand and still left to CF - Moreland was trying to pull to RF, swung late and cue balled it over the LF wall - the Alberto HR was almost an honest HR but more pile of trash than actual HR ball JD's was an honest shot and the other Oriole HR was an honest shot.
  11. A lotta' the time he is a pull hitter for two strikes and a spray hitter for one. But I really do not like his pull swing. I just do not care how "pretty" Eck thinks it is. That thing is basically his pop up swing.
  12. Once Vaz went back to GENERALLY just going with the pitch and moved a couple inches back off the plate, he has pretty much been a monster at the plate for your modern day catcher.
  13. This is the first time I can say with some confidence that we have a HP ump tonight who has no depth perception. The last time Strike 3 to Villar was a strike was about 15' out in front of HP.
  14. See what I mean? If a hitter has to keep up with THAT for his paycheck, what do you think he is going to do?
  15. This guy Kline is even more of a panic. How do you let a FB get away from you that badly. Even if he was aiming inside on the JD pitch, he missed by two feet.
  16. Then the two guys behind him should have recognized the plan and approached their AB's the way Cora had planned it. He manages, they play. On the other hand as an individual player trying to make his way to big paydays the number of HR's players are going to have to hit with these rocket ship baseballs just to "stay in shape" as Eck says is about to turn into some laughably absurd number for all of them. I really don't think MLB wants what is coming though they apparently think they do.
  17. Funny thing about that inning is that they give up the out to move two runners into scoring position which brings in the infield. Then one of the best oppo field hitters on the team and maybe in the league right now, Vaz tries to leave to LF instead of doing what he does. Then with two outs and ducks on the pond, Beni tries to leave, digs a hole for himself and never climbs out of it. Bet Cora is back in the dugout asking himself what the heck he did that for even with JBJ's problems at the plate.
  18. Beni trying to leave. Can you blame him?
  19. Well I think we can reliably bet that in this ball park with this year's baseball, this game will be won on balls leaving. I would give us the odds in that battle even with Val going tonight.
  20. I actually thought Smith pitched decent for the amount of time he was out there. No pitcher deserves to see that pile of s*** swing at that pitch end up deposited in the center field stands. That was a just make contact swing.... no weight shift, no nothing. Just dropped the head from a completely balanced stance front to back and a ball that maybe should have not even been a long fly ball just flew over the Center Field fence. If this is the game MLB wants guys like Smith just won't survive at all. Even hitters won't survive as true hitters. Just get the ball in the air off any part of the barrel and take what you can get. We will get guys hitting fungo and broadcasters raving about their greatness. That should be exciting. So much for a multi-demensional game.
  21. The only way for this team still very much dependent on its starting pitching to off JBJ would be to look for a superlative CF defender that was at the least more consistent from the batters box. They are out there. I would prefer Kiermaier to JBJ every day of the week and twice on Sunday. But I don't get the impression the Sox are devoting that much effort to it. They have to be able to both trade JBJ at a point where they don't get a bag of balls back AND end up with a better solution for CF on a team that in the main depends on its starting rotation. Thats a tall order. If the Sox ever pull it off, I would attribute it to luck as much as anything else. Anyway I don't see it happening while DD is bidding for another Crown before the window closes on his Rotation and his bucket of young star everyday players. If the window does close on his Rotation, then the necessity for a really superlative defender in CF might just not be as compelling.
  22. Well we certainly have our own examples of what a LH pitcher with a good change can do to RH hitters. Mean's Change was terrific tonight. The Villar HR was another nothing swing rocket ship baseball job. A shame to have to give up 4 runs on that pile of s***. But apparently this is the game MLB intends it to be.
  23. Absolutely nothing swing and the ball is way over the center field wall. Villar literally just dropped the head of the bat on the ball.
  24. Except when a LH pitcher is starting for the opponent. Then its Chavis, Nunez, X and Devers around the infield. Pearce is a waste of time. So he does not help you the way he did last year. At the moment I would take Devers against a LH pitcher before I would take Pearce against anybody. And...I never said Cora was a dummy. You should stop trying to read minds as you are not good at it and you should stop trying to put words in people's mouths as that is at best discourteous.
