Yup, a 2.32 ERA player with 60+ IP and 35+ SV through 9 years is the consistency I'm looking for, but unfoutunatly ain't gonna happen. Not sure why Papelbon and Bailey are in the same discussion, is not even fair. BTW do you want another 3 pages of discussion of why Papelbon was/is so good? Or you are being a dick... again.

Media, experts, FO, fans, and several posters here (look at the pool) have concerns about him. If he is reliable why all these concerns and questions marks surround him... Why? Maybe because he is not reliable at this point? Do not take me wrong, I want him to bounce back but at this point sounds more like a good wish than a real possibility. We'll see.

Lol C'mon men, the fried chicken and beer thing was a sarcastic/joke comment in order to "complement" the possible causes of his failure since he arrived to Boston. We all know that he wasn't in 11, again, it was sarcastic. Bottom Line: In order to be reliable you need consistency and durability, things that Bailey hasn't shown for whatever reason, since he arrived to Boston. That is the fact gentlemen.

Point is that for whatever reason (injuries, mechanics, fried chicken & beer, etc) he hasn't been a reliable pitcher beyond his role in the last 2 year. He has earned tons of runs or injured in the last 7/14/28/365/2 Y... You do not need that and mostly in the las inning. That is a fact my friend and reason why I sustain he is not reliable at all right now. Will this continue? hopefully no, but at this point I have zero confidence on him. Zero.

Well, the last 7 days he has a 13.5 ERA, the last 14? 7.5, the last 28? 5.0, the last 365? 4.78. That is not reliable by any means and mostly for a closer, don't you think?

I should say that Bailey is not reliable these days which is a fact. On the other hand I have zero confidence on him, hopefully I'm dead wrong on this.

Bailey is not reliable. Tazawa, Ushera and Miller are not proven closers. Those are the facts, I'm talking about.

I would keep Koji and Tazawa in their current roles and look for a closer. Damn, with the right closer this team could increase a lot their possibilities in order to grab at least a WC slot mostly looking how tight the division is and likely will be.

Well, hopefully Tazawa is the answer if they go that way.

Do not take me wrong. I like Tazawa and Koji but they are not closers and they are prone to be HRed in pressure situations and that doesn't help mostly in close games... look what has happened with Bailey lately. I like what they do in their current roles. If you want to experiment with them, fine, I'm not in that wagon. I do not want to see again a Aceves, Bard, etc. 2.0 do you? Bailey sucks. Hanrahan is out. Hence, and again, we do not have a reliable/proved closer... that is a fact.

We do not have a reliable closer. Period.

We do not have the piece to cover the closer role. This piece will mark difference in close games mostly in playoffs.

This, and 10000 times this. I'm not against big contracts. It is not about the long/amount of the contract, it is about which ones you pick up. That's supposed to be a FO ability. It's clear that our FO have picked up tons of the bad ones lately and give up the good ones like Pap's one. If there were a stat for this, our FO would hit the equivalent of a F

They shall go for Pap if they can. His contract has worth every penny thus far and there is no indication of a decline, in fact the guy is still a stud.

Couldn't catch the game but seemed like Doubront, Gomes and Nava had a great game today. On the other hand the Bailey almost s*** the bed...again. Seriously, get rid of Bailey as closer. The guy sucks. Put Tazawa or whoever, I don't want to see this piece of s*** closing in our team again.
