  1. Used to love him but he's a juicer, so don't want him here anymore
  2. I guess if this is what Heidi is reporting, it's a done deal
  3. Evans often joked that he should have swung at it so he could run but I recall Dick Stockton's voice on that play saying "3 runs will score" so I think the bases were loaded.
  4. How many PA's does Ben need? (1st Tek now this) Does this mean Theo was God because he didn't need (m)any? Just because someone was considered a "great" player it doesn't mean they will be great in these kinds of roles. Think of how many good mangers there have been that sucked as players (and vice versa). Nothing to see here.
  5. ESPN Boston’s Gordon Edes reported that multiple sources confirmed the Red Sox and Pirates have discussed Hanrahan, a righthander who had a 2.72 ERA with 36 saves in 40 opportunities last season in Pittsburgh. Hanrahan, 31, makes sense for the Red Sox because questions linger over closer Andrew Bailey, who missed most of last season with a thumb injury and had a 7.04 ERA in 19 appearances when he returned. Hanrahan made $4.1 million in 2012 and is eligible for salary arbitration in 2013 and eligible for free agency on 2014. He was a National League All-Star the past two seasons. boston.com (can't do link since don't have 15 posts yet)
  6. cbssports.com says RS sign S Drew (don't have 15 posts yet so can't include link)
  7. I was ready to trade him for Johan Santana then I heard Farrell say he would be a 15 game winner and thought he was nuts but he was right, he was great when Farrell was here. No coincidence to me that he sucked the minute Farrell left so now that he's back I say keep him too. Fair enough if Les still sucks later but for now no trade. I guess my only concern is if our pitchers run to Farrell for advice if they don't like what they hear from whoever is going to be the pitching coach now then he'll think "why am I here if they're going to ask Farrell everything" but whatever that's their problem to figure out I guess.
  8. This proves they are going to try and rebuild in Boston (good luck with that, though I'm fine with it) yet the Globe is trying to get us to drink the kool aid on some of the "big but past it" names out there on the FA market now. I guess you kind of have to buy some of them to go through the process of being on the bottom for a feew years to build up real prospects (since we gave our farm system to SD for A-Gon)
  9. They'll probably buy LFC a championship first (Man City style) then blow it up and do the rebuilding thing.
  10. If the RS didn't want Victor, they don't want Mauer
  11. So are they going to dump Sweet Caroline at Fenway and have Randy sing Short People in the bottom of the 8th? Oh wait...
  12. In evaluating Ben's negotiating skills so far with what deals have been made, probably their batboy...and the RS FO would've considered it a steal to boot.
  13. If they found offers "not to their liking" I dread to think what they were given they gave Youk away for a bag of balls etc. and apparently found those offers to their liking
  14. Also I thought Theo (or maybe Larry) offered Ells AND Buchholz for Hanley a year or 2 ago and they said no thanks. So why should this time be any different?
  15. Willy Blow Pena has to be up there
  16. Though I agree with this, my fear is that those players will pull a Manny then they're forced to trade them for pennies on the dollar etc. which would slow down a rebuilding phase which may be coming anyways (if that's even possible)
  17. I guess that means Tina will be back soon (ba da bing!)
