  1. Geez I hate these conditions.
  2. Coke is going to walk a LOT of hitters tonight.
  3. hahahaha wtf was that, Remy?
  4. Oh my gosh. Does Boesch know that there is rain in the forecast??
  5. This is s***** football weather, much less baseball!
  6. Wow Buch got hosed bad on ball 1.
  7. Not off the top of my head, although Beltre didn't burn any bridges either.
  8. Per weather.com - Chance of Precipitation: 7:00 - 85% 8:00 - 75% 9:00 - 100% 10:00 - 60% 11:00 - 70% I don't want to be a Debbie Downer, but man I just cannot see us getting this game in. This storm is absolutely brutal. EDIT: Then again, this is the Tigers only trip to Fenway this year. They basically have to get it in.
  9. Unbelievably, because of the rainout last night, Lackey will miss only ONE start during his DL stint. He was placed on the DL retroactive to 5/11, meaning he will be off of the DL on the 25th or 26th. Due to last night's start being skipped because of rain, his next scheduled start would have been on 5/22, and the following start on 5/27. Assuming Lackey comes back when eligible, this could be the best case scenario. If he goes back to being the 4.00 ERA Lackey that he was during the 2nd half of the season last season, this could be a huge boost for us. Also - two random thoughts - 1. I am excited to see what Aceves can do in the rotation, and am curious as to what the Red Sox do if Aceves comes out and throws 3 games at a 2.50 or 3.00 ERA. And 2. I bet if Lackey was going to miss more than 1 start, that they would bring up Andrew Miller, but it's not worth an option for 1 start.
  10. This is still to be determined, but to be honest, I am guessing that it will be better than it is right now. And it's pretty easy for Wake + Aceves to be better. Through the past 2 rotations, DiceK + Lackey have thrown 4 games. They are 2-2 in those games, thanks to some late inning heroics. Here are the stats. 4 GS, 21 IP (5.1 IP per outing), 11.14 ERA, 2.19 WHIP. Where's the smiley for throwing up??
  11. I would 110% much rather see Brandon Duckworth or Andrew Miller take Lackey's starts instead of Wakefield.
  12. Hell yeah! Crisis averted. If Lackey returns on time, he will only miss 1 start. Nice.
  13. Well Doubront has a pulled groin, so he's not coming up. As far as Atchison is concerned, I think he *should* be our 8th arm in the bullpen, meaning first up from Pawtucket. With a pen of Pap Bard Jenks Albers Aceves Hill Wheeler, that's a bullpen where, outside of Wheeler and Jenks who are having a tough start to the year, there will never be a case where we are losing in a close game and people say "WTF?!? Why did we bring him in?!?" You essentially replace Wakefield and Okajima with Aceves and Hill. Both of those are extremely effective relief pitchers. Both of those have the ability to come into the 7th or 8th inning when we're up by 1 or 2 runs (assuming Bard needs rest), and you see them running in and you're comfortable with that. That's something that I think this team has not had in recent years. Between Wakefield, MDC, Ramon Ramirez, and Okajima last year, Francona was almost in a situation where he's saying "Ok, 1 out in the 7th, we're up 1, does a depleted Lester give us a better shot to win, or does MDC or RR give us a better shot?" And I think a lot of his complacency with the SP stems from that. But now, we have 7 arms that can almost all be trusted in a 1-2 run game (save for Wheeler and maybe Jenks until he turns it around), and now maybe Francona isn't so reluctant to go to the bullpen. Maybe at that point, he goes out with the hook at the first sign of trouble because he finally has the confidence in his bullpen that he's never had. It all starts with getting rid of Wakefield and Okajima. Managerial complacency stems from bullpen inconsistency.
  14. I guess I can't post until game time then. Throwing Wake tonight is essentially saying..... .....to be continued.
  15. Welp. Your new name is JD Drew, you buzzkill :thumbdown
  16. Well tomorrow's game is against the Tigers. Somehow, we go through 8 games against the Angels and only see Weaver once, which was only because he got pushed back bc of the flu, but then we face the Tigers for 2 games and we see Verlander. Oh well. I'm still pumped up for Verlander v Beckett.
  17. A-Gon seems shorter :dunno:
  18. You're right. I forgot about that. That's why we left him in AAA so long to figure out his new delivery because once we brought him up, we couldn't send him back down without putting him on the wire. Thank God! What we NEED to do is to give Wakefield a nice little retirement package and option Okajima. Papelbon - Bard - Jenks - Albers - Aceves - Hill - Wheeler. That bullpen will get it done.
  19. That's for Theo to decide. The Braves need a CF pretty bad as well as a future 3B or LF whenever Chipper decides to retire and they can either move Prado to 3rd or leave him in LF and pick up another 3B. Josh Reddick has been hitting well this year, he's got a .909 OPS with 10 HR and 25 RBI in 35 games this year. Maybe that draws some interest. We've also got Yamaico Navarro who is hitting well and can take over at SS or 3B for them when Alex Gonzalez and Chipper Jones call it quits, both of which are aging.
  20. Interesting. I think I like that. The Braves also have David Ross (we had him in 2008), but anyway he's a decent catcher who, over the past 3 years, hit .287/.385/.513 with 12 HR and 57 RBI over 121 games. Annualized, that's production of 17 HR, 80 RBI with a .385 OBP. He's the Braves back up catcher right now. Why not swing a deal for David Ross and Derek Lowe?
