  1. Oh and by the way - Crawford is hitting .320 with an .858 OPS in August. Get a freaking clue dude. Seriously.
  2. Overreact much? Since May 23rd, Crawford is hitting .300 with an .831 OPS. Given, it's not the same year he had last year, but to say you hate him?? Come on man.
  3. Make up game for the rainout we had back in April.
  4. I don't see how Salty can go from $750k this year to 5.6mm next year, nor can I see how Albers would go from $875K to 4.28mm. Also on Matsuzaka, I wonder what they're insurance policy is on his contract. They may not have to pay that whole sum. Oh last thing - Gonzo's signed a new, 7/154mm contract, so his AAV is $22/year. I don't think signing bonus is taken out of AAV, but I'm not sure.
  5. If Buchholz can start throwing on 9/7 and have 5 weeks to get ready, I'd say he will probably start game 3 in the ALDS. If you think about it, that's 2 weeks to build arm strength, and then 3 weeks where he'll be throwing against MiLB players to get ready. Given, it's not perfect, but would you rather see Buchholz with a fresh arm, but not a lot of competition on his rehab starts, or Bedard/Lackey?
  6. This is a double header. Bedard and Lester throwing on Tuesday, IIRC
  7. Damn Crawford. Square something up for Gods sake. Quit flailing and swing the bat.
  8. We absolutely have to make this hurt. Gotta score a couple here and get right back in the game.
  9. I'm not saying there is a mini conspiracy where they intentionally blow calls, but would it really be surprising to see them get nit picky on some calls that are technically correct, but never get called (i.e. neighborhood play at 2nd)? That's what I think is going on.
  10. I wish I could go back to earlier game threads and show everyone all the posts about "I don't care if Lowrie has worse defense, Scutaro can't hit s***!" Now it's "Lowrie sucks at defense, I don't care if Scutaro can't hit, I want his defense!!!"
  11. Guys. Lowrie did exactly what Scutaro would do. It's clear that the umpires are pissed at Francona for yesterday. Shortstops rarely touch 2nd base on a double play ball because if they did, there would be injuries out the ass.
  12. He's an aggressive hitter, he is saying he doesn't feel like he has to work the count so that everyone else can see what he's got to offer, i.e. the typical leadoff hitter. How the hell can you guys harp on a 20/30 guy on August 14th who is hitting over .300 and is OPS'ing in the top 10 in the AL?? Good Lord, I'm pretty sure his approach is working pretty f***ing well.
  13. Since when do you have to touch the bag at 2nd?? These umps are f***ing us ridiculously hard.
  14. how can you possibly complain about Ellsbury this season?? He has said multiple times that through video, players can get a feel for what a pitcher throws so he doesn't feel like he has to work the count anymore.
  15. Wakefield is good the first 2 times through the order. The third time, though, he gets shelled. First time through order, batters are hitting .259/.294/.415 Second time through the order: .219/.289/.391 Third time through the order? Yikes. .304/.360/.554.
  16. Wow. Not a lot of calls going the way of the Sox this series. His foot was off the bag.
  17. I think he said that people wouldn't read it, which is fair enough, they probably wouldn't, but at least if this happened we could say "Go read the rules thread"
  18. I've heard Bard, multiple times, say that he would like to try out being a SP. I think his velocity would drop from 97-99 to around 95-97, which is still plenty of gas. I'm ok with the idea of having him start, the only problem is who takes his role? This is the same exact problem that Theo is facing in terms of whether or not to let Papelbon walk. I think that Bard has almost as much influence in that decision as Pap.
  19. that makes sense. you do realize that when we win, the same person keeps making the gamethreads, right? We need a rules thread badly.
  20. since we are going to win, no.
  21. pretttty high tag there blue. sure you dont want the hp ump to overturn??
  22. Wow what f***ing horrid luck.
  23. Crawford is due to go yard soon. As is Gonzo.
