  1. These last few runs have been big. Bard and Papelbon needed a little rest. They've thrown 50-60 innings each this season. Francona needs to get Wheeler some freaking work, especially in tight situations. He's been throwing really well lately.
  2. Damn that thud was nasty.
  3. Crawford's gotta be wondering what he's got to do to catch a break.
  4. No no no. That's not what I was saying at all. I was saying Andrew Miller did a hell of a job tonight. I was saying that this performance is something I would expect from our #3 starter, not Andrew Miller.
  5. End the game on a nice little strike out. Get him out on a good note, keep the confidence up, and don't let him get blasted by Butler.
  6. A very nice outing for Miller. Couldn't have asked for more than that. s***, if we could count on 5.1, 1 ER, I'd set him up as my #3 starter in the post season. I wish we had a #3 who could throw as well as Miller did tonight.
  7. DFA Lavarnway. Sign Molina.
  8. You also have to consider the expectations that came along with Gonzo. They were so high that he's really not a huge surprise. Even though he's playing like an MVP, everyone expected him to play like an MVP. Salty, on the other hand, is a complete surprise. Nobody knew what to expect, and after April, almost everyone wanted his head. He's hitting .260 with a .822 OPS since 4/30. Take out that initial adjustment period and he's actually been a top catcher in the AL.
  9. Infield in during the 4th inning? Against Andrew Miller?? Someone didn't do their scouting report.
  10. It's the KC media man. Tough place to play.
  11. Ellsbury ran about 4 miles to catch that ball. I thought there was absolutely no way that ball was going to get tracked down off the bat. No possible way.
  12. Wow. 3 innings, and we've already left the bases loaded twice. Seriously. This is ridiculous.
  13. Ugh. Ellsbury doesn't see enough pitches
  14. Ah come on man, the Royals have a good hitting team, their pitching just sucks.
  15. I think the biggest thing is some bad habits that were created during the spell where he was battling with his neck. Now, you can argue that an extra day or two of rest that he would have gotten had he not participated in the HRD could have helped avoid the neck problem, but I'm not convinced that the HRD affects a players swing. I would say that the decrease in SLG is due, in large part, to wearing down in the 2nd half. They don't call August the Dog Days for nothing. Players start to get worn down, get into bad habits, and have a hard time correcting them, and I think that's all this is.
  16. I can't get blame Theo for signing Crawford, I loved the signing at the time, and I still think he's an elite player. I'm not sure where Carl Crawford is, I think Carl and Glenn Davis need to find themselves, but when Crawford gets his swing back, he's a game changer. And if we can get him to figure it out by the post season, he's going to be a huge addition.
  17. I gotta side with Pal here. Reddick may not be crushing it, but at the same time, which of the alternatives are hitting better than him? I don't think we were ever in on Pence, Franceour never wanted to leave and it appears now that the Royals never considered trading him, as they just locked him up.
  18. From the Sox? Ellsbury has the best chance. He's got the potential to be a 30 HR, 30+ SB, .300+ hitter, 100+ Runs, 100+ RBI guy this season, which is unbelievable. An absolute complete player, and he plays top notch defense in center field. I know a lot of people are going to argue that Granderson has had the better year, but his defense has been really bad, and this isn't the Silver Slugger, it's the MVP. Defense actually counts here. Now, whether the voters actually look at that or not, who knows, but if you ask me, Ells has the best shot. Also, Adrian's power outage has hurt him pretty bad. One homerun in his last 157 PA is brutal, and he's got 2 RBI in August.
  19. I don't mind it if there are 2 outs and they're trying to get into scoring position. Especially with Varitek. Pedroia can probably swipe second, but the chances of Reddick and Crawford both getting hits is pretty small, so it's probably a smart move. Unfortunate that they've been getting gunned down tonight though.
  20. We go there about once a month. My wife requires it. It's delicious though. Their tri tip plate is unbelievable. And my wife really likes some cider they have there, Wandering Aengus I believe is what it's called.
  21. why can't we do that with men on base?
