  1. Dear Yankees, I'm back! Love, Phil Hughes
  2. So talking about players that he's signed that are better than their numbers promote, which are also players whom fans rip Theo about, is somehow irrelevant to this thread?? I'd say Lackey has a bit more relevance to a Theo thread than a Yankee has on a Red Sox board.:dunno:
  3. This is a Red Sox forum.
  4. what the hell kind of a question is this?? You're right. I made up all of that stuff. I didn't say he had a QS last outing. I said he's averaging better than a QS in his past 9 games. Look up the stats yourself if you're dumb enough to think I made that up. Or don't, if you're not smart enough to know how to look them up.
  5. Past 9 starts: 57 IP (6.33 IP average per start), 4.10 ERA, 7-1 record. He's averaging better than a QS every single outing over his past 9 starts, and that's the reason that he's 7-1 in his past 9 starts, and the reason that the Red Sox are 7-2 in his past 9 starts.
  6. I'll never rip someone for trying to advance their career. Unless they go to the Yankees.
  7. It is coming true. Lackey looks exactly like Beckett. Except he looks like the 2010 Beckett. In Lackey's defense, his 2nd half has been really good. And if you would have told me that he was scheduled to face TBR 2x, CLE, KCR, NYY, and TEX (among a couple BAL and SEA starts), I would say lets hope for .500. Instead, he's gone 7-1 with a 4.11 ERA, and the Sox are 7-2 in those games. We can dog on Lackey all we want for his first half, but at least he's showing that he still has it in him to turn it around. And if I'm being honest, I'm not worried in the least about him in the post season based on how well he turns it on for those games.
  8. To be fair, there have been times when Crawford was going really bad (i.e. the 7 or 10 games before the KCR series last week) when he would get up there and I would just be shaking my head, wondering what he's thinking. But then again, I did that with Adrian toward the end of the TBR series in Fenway, and even into the next series when he was hitless in like 25 AB. Players go through slumps like that. But regardless, on any given night, if it was a tied game or we were down in the 9th inning, and I had Kalish, Reddick, Drew, and Crawford on the bench to PH for a pitcher, I take Crawford every single day, and it's not even close.
  9. Nobody is arguing that Crawford has had a bad year this year. His stats are awful. But then again, any reasonable fan doesn't care what he did in April and May, so long as he starts to produce in September and October. He said yesterday that he's worked with Magadan on getting his front foot down sooner and being more selective at the plate, and I think we're starting to see the fruition of those efforts. You can't just dump a player on a big contract because he's in an adjustment period. Thank God some of the people on this thread aren't the GM or else we would never win a world series. I'm not saying that against you in particular, Pal, you're one of the posters here that I've always enjoyed having a discussion with. But it can't be denied that releasing Carl in year 1 of a 7 year deal would be purely reactionary, which is not what Theo is about. Talent doesn't dry up at 29 years old. It just doesn't. To me, bailing on Crawford after 105 games into his 7 year contract is the equivalent of bailing on the Red Sox after their 2-10 start. Just like the Red Sox were entirely too talented for that to keep up, Crawford is entirely too talented to keep performing at this level. It would be an enormous mistake to trade Crawford. To be honest, I'm blown away that people are actually suggesting it. It makes no sense to me. Also, Kalish is back on the DL, which sucks because I would have liked to have seen what he could do out in RF during September.
  10. Actually you guys are right. Theo will definitely get him out of here as soon as he can if someone claims him. Hell, who gives a s*** about the World Series this year. We'd be much better off with Darnell McDonald in LF than Carl Crawford. D-Mac has such a better ceiling than Crawford. We will gamble and hope that Drew comes back healthy, and then we'll stick Reddick and McDonald in LF. That seems reasonable....
  11. Absolutely not. No way in hell. You honestly think that Theo is going judge Crawford's contract based on 105 games, and say "Nope. Doesn't fit. Lets get rid of him"? Overreact much?
  12. I'm sorry man, but there is absolutely no way in hell that the Sox deal Crawford. The Sox always put everyone on waivers. It's to flood the wire so they can get players they're interested in dealing through without being claimed.
  13. This is exactly what ol Matt Albers needs. More work. Because he's not showing massive signs of fatigue over the past few appearances.
  14. Seriously. This is one of the most gratifying wins we've had this year IMO. Well, the past 2 nights have. Not only does it feel like a little retaliation, but it builds all kinds of confidence for a potential ALDS matchup.
  15. HELL YES ADRIAN!!! "Oh, did that one not count? Foul, you say? Ah, no big deal. BOOM!!!!"
  16. I will agree, save for Lester, this teams SP has not gone deep into games very often. What I'm hoping is that it gives them a bit of an advantage in the post season.
  17. Thank you. When I read that, all I could think about was the "Ohhhh" clip that they always play on the Mikey Adams Yankees Report on WEEI.
  18. So freaking happy we're annihilating the Rangers right now. I've been pissed off at that team since early April.
  19. Damn. If Crawford gets hot, this team would be absurd.
