  1. Because Reddick has been hitting about .140 with a sub .200 OBP since the last NYY series. He's 8 for his last 57.
  2. Take that all day. Lets go Craw!!! Base rip here get an RBI!
  3. And Pedroia makes up for it.
  4. How the hell did nobody get to that ball?!?
  5. What the f*** just happened
  6. Sounded like it got almost all bat, and maybe nicked his finger. Regardless, an ump can only go with what he hears, and when you hear that much knob, you can't call a HBP. I wouldn't call that a "break"
  7. I don't think so. This is pretty much what we all expected. Since there are no minor league games, there's no reason to push him. If he is able to take the ball in a relief role in the last series at the end of September, then maybe he can throw a couple innings in the ALDS and ALCS. To say that by late October (WS) he could potentially be available to piggy back a start with Aceves coming in after him, that's not at all out of the question IMHO.
  8. Thanks fellas! I'm absolutely pumped up. I get to see Lester vs Burnett on Thursday, and then the Sunday afternoon game (hopefully Beckett vs the Rangers).:thumbsup:
  9. Headed up to Boston tomorrow. First time up there since I was 13 (13 years ago). My wife and I both have job interviews on Thursday as well. Hopefully everything goes well and we can land up there somewhere, hit up a few more games!
  10. I said he should hit second pending a substantial improvement. That's all. It almost seems as though we're arguing two different things at this point, though.
  11. You really enjoy putting words into peoples mouths and trying to act like you're smarter than everyone. Unfortunately, you're wrong. I said that if Crawford performs substantially better in the 2 slot, then it would be smart to keep him there because it would be better to have a .310 hitter in the 2 hole than a .250 hitter in the 6 hole. I never said "Put him there and keep him there regardless of his production". I'm not exactly sure how you can't comprehend this.
  12. Fine. And lets say while Youk was on the DL, Crawford hit 2nd and came out and hit .330/.370/.450 for 2 weeks. You wouldn't consider leaving him there and altering the line up? You wouldn't want to take your .250 hitter and turn him into a .310 hitter by moving him to the 2 slot and basically telling him "Hey. We have confidence in you, we know you're better than this. We're going to keep you here so you're comfortable and can keep it going"? You sacrifice what, dropping Pedroia to 3, Gonzo to 4, and Youk to 6? Youk is having a pretty sub-par year anyway, and the guy can't hit on the road all of a sudden. It would be extremely beneficial to at least see what Crawford could do in the 2 slot when you've got your 2 hole hitter in the 4 slot.
  13. Clearly you aren't right, because I prefaced almost every comment I made with "I'm not saying to hit him second" or "If we ever want to try to hit him second, now is the time to do it since Youk is out" Maybe you should start reading the actual lines instead of trying to read between them.
  14. Dude. Do you read my posts? I said now is the time to try it, and if he DOES perform better, then you address the permanent fixture in the lineup.
  15. What I don't understand is what I mentioned above. If Crawford feels more comfortable in the 2 slot, puts up a line consistent with what he's done the past 2 years, and the other option is to have him in the 6/7 hole where he puts up a line of .251/.290/.380, then why the hell wouldn't you set your line up to get the most out of that player? Any decrease in production from Pedroia would be nominal, whereas the decrease in production from Crawford is substantial.
  16. Just as you cannot say that it would definitively make his numbers better, you also cannot say that it definitively would NOT make his numbers better. A lot of hitters become comfortable in certain positions in the lineup. By no means am I saying that it absolutely will make his numbers better, but at the same time you can't say that hitting him where he has been his whole career would NOT make his numbers better as an absolute certainty.
  17. It's misleading because it sounds as if he hasn't thrown for 4 months. He will have been throwing for 1.5 months by the time the WS gets here. Plus, I would say he'll be the 7th inning guy for a few games during the ALDS and ALCS, while also getting stretched out for a start in the WS. Maybe I just misinterpreted what you were saying, though. Either way, I don't think it's far fetched at all to think he could play a big role in the post season. I actually wouldn't be surprised to see him start a game 4 or 5 in the ALCS if need be.
