  1. Actually, Ortiz was screaming from the tops of the mountains all offseason that this team needed more pitching. Both he and a700 were yelling it. I thought they'd be fine because of how poorly Lackey and Wake and the entire back of the rotation threw. I was wrong. This team needed more pitching. But I'm not sure this was the offseason to go about getting it. I think the Sox have their sights locked in on Cole Hamels this year. And I said it in a different thread. Don't be surprised if the Sox have another 2011 Offseason, where they go out and get 2 studs. This time it will likely be SP. Sign Cole Hamels and a guy like Matt Garza. Maybe sign Matt Garza and trade for a guy like Felix or Lincecum. I know that sounds crazy right now, but trading for Gonzo and signing Crawford sounded crazy last offseason.
  2. 1. If you don't believe in breaks, that's fine. But maybe go back and read what I was saying yesterday. I said the Sox have to play well enough to overcome the lucky breaks that go either way. So nice comment. Very insightful. 2. Last year, they had Ellsbury, Crawford, and a back end of the bullpen that was absolutely lights out, including a 25 game scoreless streak from the 8th inning guy over 26.1 IP that set records for the franchise. I don't see that happening this year. Also, say what you want about Lackey, he was atrocious, but the team still went 10-7 in his starts from 5/11 - 8/30. This was obviously completely due to a huge offense that could somehow overcome his pitching, but regardless, from our #4 starter (Doubront), if we get a 10-7 record over his next 17 starts, I think most people would be thrilled. 3. Fine. Call me a fool. You're so much better than any reactionary fans because you are just so levelheaded. Again. Get off your high horse. 4. What the hell does that even mean?!? That makes no sense. It's like you tried really hard to make a funny comment, but again failed. No surprise there. And I'm under 30, thanks.
  3. And when these problems are corrected, which they usually are, I'll be the loudest fan in the stands cheering for the Sox. Just because people are passionate and complain about s*** when things are going badly doesn't make them any less of a fan than you are, so maybe get off your high horse on some of your posts.
  4. Fine, call me out for clutch hitting. The team can't hit with RISP right now. That's a problem. Fine, call me out for acting like the sky is falling. This team is playing like dogshit. That's a problem. I guess we're not supposed to complain about the problems that the team is running into. That seems like a fun, passionate fan. "It's ok. Everything will be fine. The Red Sox lose, but hey, SO GOOD, SO GOOD, SO GOOD!!!"
  5. Love that lineup!! Nothin like putting a guy who hasn't had a knock since April 10th in your leadoff slot!
  6. I agree with Jung. To quote Joe Casteglione, "Can you believe it?!?" Anyway - I have a few tweaks to it. First off - Keep Salty as your backup, not Shoppach. Shoppach is K'ing at an unreal rate. 16 K's in 33 AB. That's almost 50% of his AB that end in a K. Kind of to go along with that, Lavarnway isn't exactly cruising down in AAA. He's hitting .238/.344/.338. Having said that, I love that OBP and you never know what a shot of adrenaline will do when a player gets called up. Iglesias had 2 knocks in yesterdays game (Double, Triple), and 2 RBI. At this point, this entire team needs a shake up, so I'm fine with that move. Moves to be made: DFA Darnell, DFA Shoppach. Call up Iglesias. Call up Lavarnway. Lineup vs RHP: Aviles Sweeney Pedroia Gonzo Ortiz Lavarnway Middlebrooks Byrd/Ross Iglesias Lineup vs LHP: Aviles Middlebrooks Gonzo Pedroia Ortiz Lavarnway Ross Middlebrooks Iglesias Give me those players over these players all day anyday.
  7. The Chicago Cubs are closer to 1st place than the Boston Red Sox. The Angels are also 7 games out. 7 f***ing games. God that pisses me off. And to think that I was excited about this season. f*** expectations, all this team does is s*** on them.
  8. 7 Games back now. That's nice. Players f***ing mailed this season in on March 25th. Absolutely pathetic showing tonight. Zero effort. Zero heart. 1 for 10 with RISP. That makes them 3 for their last 35 with RISP. Just pathetic. Go get Lavarnway and Iglesias and get them some development time if you're just going to trash this season like a bunch of lazy ass bums.
  9. Little f***ing bitch hit dink hits by the Orioles. f*** the Orioles.
  10. If this team had any heart, at all, whatsoever, they would have beaten the Orioles into a pulp for what they did last year. Oh, I'm sorry, was Chen's 89-90 MPH overpowering?? Pure s***.
  11. Alright throw strikes. All Chris Davis does is ground to Pedroia. Flip a DP here.
  12. The O's just took 2/3 from the Yankees in New York.
  13. Oye! Well then. Gooday Mate! Let's throw anotha shrimp on the barbie!!
  14. It's 11:30 at night. What could you possibly have to do?
  15. Of course it went straight to Markakis rather than hugging the wall. Dammit
  16. Have a little plate discipline, Aviles!
  17. Question for you - Would you rather see an OF of Aviles - Ross - Sweeney with Iglesias playing SS, Byrd as OF vs LHP? Or would you rather have it as is? I'm torn on it, but I'm leaning toward wanting to see the former. And I can't believe we are letting Salty hit vs a LHP instead of Shoppach. What the hell kind of a move is this???
  18. Not sure we had any other options. Sweeney hit for Byrd. And they started a LHP. It was either him, Punto, or Salty. And neither of Punto or Salty can play OF, unless I'm not thinking of someone, which very well may be the case. I'm exhausted tonight.
