  9. According to Jon Morosi of FOXSports.com, "a lot of clubs" are already showing interest in Hiroki Kuroda. And why not? Despite his 5-9 record, Kuroda has a very solid 3.10 ERA and 77/28 K/BB ratio over 101 2/3 innings. He'd be a fine addition to any pitching staff. According to Morosi, the Rockies and Reds had scouts at his most recent start, though it's not clear if they were there to see him in particular. Of course, Kuroda would have to waive his no-trade clause to facilitate any deal. Source: Jon Paul Morosi on Twitter SI.com's Jon Heyman reports that the Rangers are "interested" in Mets outfielder Carlos Beltran. Serious trade talks probably won't get underway until after the All-Star break and plenty of other teams will be in the running to snag Beltran, who has maintained his health this season while batting .278/.372/.480 with 10 home runs and 49 RBI in 76 games. The Rangers will also be looking to upgrade their bullpen and could have interest in Mets closer Francisco Rodriguez. Source: Jon Heyman on Twitter

  15. MLB.com's Jordan Bastian suspects that third base prospect Lonnie Chisenhall will be promoted shortly. The Guardians designated veteran Adam Everett for assignment on Monday afternoon, clearing a spot on the 25-man and 40-man rosters. Chisenhall, ranked the 25th-best prospect in the game this winter by Baseball America, could be on his way to fill the vacancy. He's hit .265/.352/.427 with seven homers and 44 RBI in 65 games this season for Triple-A Columbus. http://rotoworld.com/player/mlb/5582/lonnie-chisenhall Is this kid good?

  18. PITTSBURGH -- According to a major league source, Kevin Millwood, who has been pitching for the Red Sox' Triple-A affiliate in Pawtucket, chose not to exercise his opt-out -- which was June 20 -- and will remain in the Sox' organization with the understanding that exploring opportunities in other organizations may be revisited as the season progresses. Any team interested in the righty starter would still have go through the Red Sox in order to inquire about the services of Millwood. The 36-year-old has pitched extremely well for the PawSox of late, compiling a 3-0 mark with a 2.89 ERA in five starts. Millwood, who joined the Red Sox organization after opting out of his minor-league contract with the Yankees earlier in the season, hasn't surrendered more than two runs in any of his previous four starts. He has struck out 24 and walked seven in his 28 innings of work with Pawtucket. http://www.weei.com/sports/boston/this-just-in/21115351/source-millwood-chooses-not-exercise-opt-out
