If they're going to try to get a starting pitcher, they can't wait until the deadline. We have four pitcher who can't pitch and now two rookies at the top of the rotation: Edward Rodriguez and Brian Johnson. That is not a recipe for success.
I agree. I don't like the thought of trading away young talent for a rental. There is just too much to fix with the pitching. It'd take multiple trades and a lot of digging into our farm system.
There is a lot to fix on this team. I don't know if they'll be able to fix everything at the trade deadline. They need at least two starting pitchers, a bullpen piece and figure out what they're going to do at first base.
We should just do addition by subtraction. Get rid of Napoli; I don't care for what. Hell, it could be a bag chips for all I care. Then put Brock Holt at first-base. We need Holt and Pedroia's bats in the lineup.
