  1. Years and a no-trade clause also play a huge factor too. That's why whomever gets him is going to be screwed. I don't want him when he is nearing age 40.
  2. After sitting on this for a while, I don't see this hurting the Red Sox as much as I originally thought. This give the Sox more money to fill the biggest hole, starting pitching. The Phillies over paid. What did the Rays do without an elite closer. Oh yeah, beat us out for a wild-card spot. I think we will do just fine with Bard as our closer. We aren't that far removed, from when we thought, that he would, no doubt, replace Papelbon. I would go after a setup-man and take a chance on Bard. Setup-men are going to come a lot cheaper.
  3. Yeah, Tampa is a nice place to live, if you don't mind feeling like you have to learn Spanish to be able to talk to people here, and being bored as hell. lol
  4. Who would you have in-mind to replace him, if he walks? I would put Youkilis there. He can play DH most of the time, but unlike Ortiz, he can play the field when needed. I would have Mike Aviles play third full time and see how that goes. I know you lose a lot of power, but you also make a lot of room to sign a pitcher. Which is something that is highly needed.
  5. Red Sox keep changing. First Tito, then Theo, now this. The Red Sox replaced their old slogan "WE WON'T REST" with " Too Drunk to Care". Also, "Sweet Caroline" will be replace with “Hell, Yeah, I Like Beer".
  6. Good riddance. Have fun screwing up the Cubs finances.
  7. Sorry, I ment Gonzo. Doing two things at one time I didn't think when I was typing.
  8. No, I wouldn't sit Ortiz or V-Mart.
  9. First off, look at the park he is playing in. No one could put up numbers there. Secently, look what he did with the sox. Haven't we learned, it isn't all about how skilled the guy is, you have to look at how he fits your team and park. Bay was great when he was here in Boston.
  10. You can't criticize him for the V-Mart, or Bay trade. They were good trades. But, he didn't keep them, which he should have. So no matter how good those trades were, it is overshadow by his harible move by not keeping them. Lets face it, Theo wasn't a good GM. He is widely overrated. He made some good moves. But that is miniscule in comparison to the bad moves he made. Anyone could make some good moves with the money he had to work with.
  11. Eso esta bien. Hay un monton de cubanos en Tampa. Que ir al centro o de Ybor City, se encuentra una gran parte de ese sabor cubano. Tiene que amar los puros cubanos y bocadillos.
  12. Ok, genial. Nunca se si he dicho algo mal. No estoy muy fluida con el espanol. Yo solo lo aprendido.
  16. Personally, I think the Red Sox are going to stay away from big signing next off season with the way this one went.
  17. Who do you replace Ellsbury with then? Now the Red Sox are going to need two outfielders, if a trade like this is made, with little to no money to spend. Doesn't make any since with the free agent pool, as far as outfielders go, being significant week.
  18. Sometime, no matter how good a manager is, it's time for a change. He was good while it's lasted. But, it is time to get someone new in there and see if he can whip these over priced asses into plays.
  19. No hard feeling, dude. But, I don't think the solution is much further then your bullpen. IMO Aceves is the guy to turn to. Stretch his arm out in spring training, and you have a starter.
