  1. You're right. I'm just angry and drunk. I hate losing to these guys.
  2. He's still a bad manager. May not have much control over the offense. But, he can control the lineup and when to get the pitcher. Both he sucks at.
  3. Farrell needs to go. He doesn't know how to do s***.
  4. Help us David Ortiz. You're our only hope.
  5. I'd cut up everyone's jerseys.
  6. At least Sale is fun to watch.
  7. And this is how we lose...1-0...
  8. That's funny, that's how I got through his time in Boston too!
  9. What's with New York teams and guys named Sanchez?
  10. You're right, the issue is beyond a designated hitter. To me, David Ortiz brought more than statistical numbers. He was the most clutch player to ever play the game and he brought his leadership. Right now, I don't think there's anyone on the team that could bring that value.
  11. I couldn't agree with your assessment any more. Very well written.
  12. I am going to have to agree to disagree with you on this one. I think, like a pitching rotation, you need that one guy. That guy who you can give the ball to (a bat in this situation) and know he is going to get the job done.
  13. He did have a great year last season. One that no one has seen out of him since his Marlins days. The problem is, the years previous have been good. But, not to the level of Ortiz. I just don't see the numbers to justify taking the leap of faith.
  14. The problem is, we expect Hanley to fill some of the voids left by David Ortiz. But, he is just not that kind of player. I don't know what to call this kind of player. But, when they come up to bat, you know there is a good chance he is going to come up clutch for the team. This team is missing it's core and you're not going to fill it with a bunch of complimentary players. The front office needed to suck it up and go above the luxury tax in the off-season. They should have signed Encarnación. That's the type of player that will fill the void.
  15. You need to dig deeper then earned runs. His defense could have helped him out a lot more then what they have been doing. Yes, there is no excuse giving up that last run he gave up. But, again it was because of bad defense that got that player to score a position. Also, if it wasn't for that bad play at first base that homerun would've only been a single run. So, you can easily put two runs on the defense
  16. I'm really not too concerned with the pitching staff. It's this lackluster offense that's concerning.
  17. How many strikeouts does the dude need to have?
  18. Hanley frustrates the crap out of me.
  19. I think you're comparing two different kinds of players here. Adrian Beltre is a power hitter, Pablo Sandoval is a on base percentage kind of the player with post-season magic. I don't think they ever got Sandoval for his regular season numbers. Their intent was to make the playoffs and have him take control a series like he had been doing with San Francisco previously. The only problem is, the only time they've made the playoffs since acquired Pablo Sandoval, is when he was injured the entire season.
  20. Stop basing things off a month of baseball. Betts had 31 home runs last year and 18 the year before that.
  21. I don't like having two guys who can hit homeruns at the top of the order. Much rather have someone like JBJ and Pedroia there.
