  1. Crawford's stats have been trending up, while some on this list, have either plateaued or are beginning to decline. Crawford's age, and the idea that his "younger player skill set" should decrease at a slower rate that many of the others on this list, might work in our favor. I am always a fan of good teammates and I think that intangible is too often overlooked. Was it too much? I think that is appears that way to us, today, but when we see what a few guys get next off-season (Pujols and Fielder) it is going to start to come back to earth, and in two years will not be nuts at all. He will still have a lot of time left with us...which hopefully is a good thing.
  2. Lowrie is the truth. I brought him up one time last year, and was pretty well flamed for it. The dude had the wrist injury and an unfortunate bout with mono... He showed that he didn't forget how to rake, and when the go through Spring Training, there will be no way to not start Lowrie. If we can get anything for Scoots, let's take it.
  3. Wow...most message boards have several threads dedicated to player/journalist tweets. Not that any of them are ever relevant, or come to fruition, but there is a definite obsession with Twitter. Guess it is good to see that it is a little different here.
  4. He is going to "feel it," but I have seen no indication of there being risk of further injury. He would simply be playing with pain or discomfort, which several players do for their teams EVERYDAY. Pedroia's injury could potentially leave him on the shelf until next year, if not through it. He is busting his ass to get back, and was quoted as saying "I think the Red Sox need me more that the Paw Sox." That is the attitude we want. This team is a better team with Ellsbury at the top of the lineup. He is hitting and fielding better than his replacements, all while we slip down in the standings heading into August.... I know it is a little apples and oranges, but Ty Cobb got slashed with a knife and played the next day. Ellsbury needs to get up to the big club and start contributing. We aren't out of this thing, yet.
  5. Put Lester in the NL, and he's the man. These guys don't pitch in the AL East. I know Halladay did, but we have knocked him around a few times, and they guy is definitely human. I would take Lester over any of these three. I don't know what it is about Cliff Lee, but I am always waiting for the other shoe to drop.
  6. Scutaro is not a young man, and if Lowrie, who played well when healthy, can produce anywhere near what he was projected to, he would be the SS. I like Scoots, but Lowrie would be a better option, if healthy. I agree Iglesias looks like the future, but I wouldn't bet the farm on him just yet. Besides, I don't consider having two MLB-capable SS to be a liability.
  7. Man, if a player gets injured he is in serious trouble with the fans, eh? Jacoby is chapping my ass by not showing up to be with this teammates, but I like a lot of others, see him as a major contributor and spark plug at the top of the lineup. I think his best years are ahead of him, and that his bat will improve... Obviously there are those that forgot how fun it is to watch this guy play. Hitting, running, great D... or maybe I am just not remembering correctly. I like Werth more that DeJesus, who I don't feel is the kind of guy that is in the lineup on a championship team. I think that Werth would be brought in to be more of a replacement for Drew. Especially if we give up anything to get him, I think he needs to be kept around. I hope we do something before we are too far out of it.
  8. Jed was a serious prospect, and did really well for us when he first came up. The guy had a bad wrist...hard to play through, and Mono. I think Jed could really be the answer at SS if he can come back. Ianetta is not the answer at C.
  9. I would love the production from Hanley, but it isn't worth it to have his lack of hustle, in my opinion. Questioning Pedroia's ability to play short is the same mistake everybody that has questioned him this far has made. He was the NCAA DPOY! That is not the San Pee Pee League... People have said he couldn't do any of the things he has done, and what happened? That's right...laser show.
