Red Sox acquired OF Conor Jackson from the Athletics for RHP Jason Rice.
Jackson, 29, has hit .249/.315/.342 with four home runs and 38 RBI in 102 games this season. The Red Sox will use the utilityman infrequently, but he bolsters their bench with a bit more quality depth. Rice has a decent fastball and has enjoyed some success this year at the Triple-A level, but he'll have to develop a quality secondary pitch to make it as a major league reliever.
