  1. lol, actually I'm just ruffling your feathers to heighten the next matchup later this month at the Trop but I must admit, the game day threads make for some interesting reading when the Sox blow a lead. You guys always crack me up.
  2. In case you guys haven't noticed, it's time to sack up or go home. Every game thread is chocked full of hypothetical BS and you homers are in terminal denial. That and $1 will buy you a cup of coffee at McDonalds. Which OBTW is about as lame as your crying in the game day threads. I can't believe some idiot mentioned you're in a pennant race recently. Don't you have to actually be in contention to be considered in a pennant race?
  3. I don't think you should be so down on the guy. Personally I thought it was one of the better errors I've seen all season...
  4. Sure I was. Haven't you been following the activity on your own board? I've posted quite a bit of Rays history here from the eyes of a local fan. Maybe you were just too busy posting your disgust about Red Sox performance this season. I've noticed a lot of negativity in your posts (not that there's anything wrong with that) but if you'd rather, I can move on in an effort to make this a homer only system.
  5. Not always and only lately. The Rays sucked pond water for years building this team...
  6. Congrats on a well deserved win tonight guys. Buchholz pitched very well, especially when in trouble early and he set the tone for this game. I was expecting to see the Sox at their best and they didn't disappoint. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series because it's always great baseball when Boston and the Rays hook up..!
  7. Here's My Take... The Rays are coming off a sloppy let down series in Houston and haven't been dominate at home this season. Boston appears to be righting the ship and playing very well. This could prove to be an extremely interesting series. It's my opinion that the Rays have their work cut out for them with Boston at home. It will be a good test... If they prevail, maybe they are all that and a bag of chips. Either way, I'm looking forward to the series and hope we see some exciting games!
  8. Their fan base is ok, they're averaging over 21,000 a game but there always has been a grudge between Tampa and St Petersburg even before the team was awarded to this area. (Long story explained in another thread here) However, investors are currently in place with plans to build a new stadium in Tampa and if all that happens, attendance with rise dramatically. The money and population is in Tampa, St Petersburg is mostly retired fixed income. Personally I think it will happen based on investors wanting to buy into a winner but it will be several years off before they can get it done.
  9. I think the Celtics are a lot better team than most people realized. They played great in Orlando and earned those 2 wins.
  10. Excuse me for being a homer but I think this Rays team is playing pretty good baseball. Their starting pitching and defense has won them a lot of games. The talking heads continue to mention timely hitting but that's only half of the story. Team speed and aggressive base running sets up those timely hits. Double steals, safety squeeze bunts, stretching doubles into triples. This team attempts to get the max out of every base runner and so far it's paying off. They've even given fat arse Navarro the green light. (he always gets thrown out though...) Point is when the Rays show up at your park, they're gonna' give you everything they have and I hear everybody saying it's not gonna' last and maybe you're right but I know it's not going to be for lack of effort. These Rays are coming to do what they do and at some point you might want to admit they're a pretty good ball club. At least until their legs fall off. :harhar:
  11. No don't give us a legitimate chance, we'd rather come into your house and steal one. (or 2...)
  12. Good win tonight guys but Papelbon looks shaky at best. Good news is, he'll probably look all world against Rays hitters if they continue to keep their eyes shut while at the plate. See you guys next week, looking forward to it!
  13. Tough loss guys but on a lighter note, the Rays won..!
  14. It's never easy at this stage of the playoffs but the Magic have had slightly better success against the Cavs. Boston matches up very well and is always a challenge. I'm sure they'll make it a very interesting series. Buckle up boys, game on...
  15. Welcome to Amway Arena gentlemen, or the O-rena as we like to call it.
  16. Interesting topic. It seems MLB has pretty much locked down radio broadcasts but there are still several streaming feeds to video broadcasts. The only time I have a problem streaming games live is on Concert Night at Rays home games. This is probably due to a separate contractual agreement between the Rays and MLB that blacks out the TV feed locally to boost home game attendance to help cover the costs of the concerts. ZZ Top will be at the Trop this Saturday night. Out of respect for the admin here, I'd rather not post links to the sites that stream the games live but if anybody wants a few links, PM me and I'll pass those along.
  17. OK help me out people cause I'm new here. Dipre is the resident homer, right?
  18. Did you mean the Gay Area?
  19. Per se. Naturally the eye was on the grand prize but the emotion generated during the ALCS far surpassed that of the World Series. Happy to have informed you...
  20. Thanks for the welcome guys..! Here's a little info you might like to know about the Rays... The ALCS between the Rays & Sox was actually the Ray's World Series. After that series the team (and fans) were completely out of gas. Beating Boston in that series was the high point and goal of the season. I seriously doubt anybody in this area really cared about the World Series after that. We had just achieved our loftiest goal. (no offense of course, just respect) This Season: Is a do or die season for the Rays. They know they can't keep this team together after this year and they're going to be faced with some very tough decisions late and during the off season. Don't get too excited about that, their minor league system runneth over with talent so they'll still be a PITA without the usual suspects. :harhar: The Fan Base: This is a strange (and sad) story. Even before Tampa Bay was awarded a team, a feud over location, stadium issues, ownership and entity in general sprang up between Tampa, St. Petersburg, respective city leaders and ownership groups. This naturally trickled down and split the local baseball fan base. Talk about Rays attendance is a constant local sports radio topic but in spite of their success, Tampa fan (in mass) refuses to attend a game in St. Pete. Granted The Trop is not an ideal location (closer to Bradenton/Sarasota than Tampa) and it's not the best ball park in the majors but it's more about the long standing feud than location, always has been. So now you know the rest of the story... (spoken in my best Paul Harvey voice) Go Rays!
  21. Hiya guys! Rays & Bucs fan here from just outside the bay area. Now before you start piling on, I'm not a troll or a trouble maker. I'm just a sports fan that enjoys a good game and rooting for my home teams much like you. Only difference is I happen to live in paradise. :harhar: Just wanted to stop by, say howdy and let you guys know I always enjoy the Rays Red Sox matchups. It's always baseball worth watching from where I sit.
  22. Youkilis hands down. If I never had to watch his goofy butt bat again it would still be too soon.
  23. Now there's a man with integrity...
