SFF and I had posted these numbers in the gamethread a few days ago, so I figured I'd put it up here as well. Ellsbury is on a pace for .310/.370/.476/.846, 20 HR, 85 RBI, 50 Doubles, 110 Runs, 65 Stolen Bases, and 202 Hits. Crawford's stats last year: .307/.356/.495/.851, 19 HR, 90 RBI, 110 runs, 47 SB, 184 hits. He also has 43 doubles and triples (Ellsbury has no triples right now), Those numbers are ridiculously close. Ellsbury's defense isn't quite there, but still look at how similar those numbers are. Having such a direct comparison is great for an agent like Boras. -

Wakefield has generally been successful in Tropicana, with a 3.40 career ERA there. Personally, I'm feeling more and more convinced that Wakefield is actually still capable of pitching to career numbers. The downside of that is... he's still a knuckleballer and he's bound to break down physically at some point.

The yahoo sports image doesn't make it quite as clear as the Herald one. Why are major sport leagues so obsessed with Florida? 2 NHL, 2 MLB, 2 NFL, 1 NBA. Who thought that was a good idea? Do any of those teams ever sell out during the regular season?

When talking about these kinds of things, I always emphasize the need for parity. More interleague games is fine, but the league needs to find a better solution to interleague issues. I'm tired of AL pitchers getting injured at the plate, and it can be painful to see NL teams try to field the DH position with their utility guy. The other big issue is that the MLB likes to create "marque matchups", but at the same time that gives better teams unfair schedules where the Sox play the Phillies every year, and the Yankees play the Mets. FTS
