  1. You know, I use this expression several times a week, and someone calls me out on it every time:lol:
  2. Really guys? Now they make us wait for the 3-run Ortiz walkoff.
  3. Can we revisit my argument from the MLB realignment thread? Why the f*** are there so many major league teams in friggen Florida?
  4. I turn the tv on and I see a long ball.... caught by Drew in deep right. Then a long ball left... foul. This is feeling ominous.
  5. If Ellsbury makes it in this year, the Red Sox will have 18 All-stars in their organization. That is insane.
  6. Us cubicle-dwellers appreciate this. Thanks!
  7. In all fairness, the Marlins haven't had Josh Johnson for a month.
  8. So.... the author basically finds that all the data comes up inconclusive
  9. When did he ever take the blame in Cleveland?
  10. Scoring champion, MVP, rookie of the year, all-star appearances every year, first pick overall in the draft. Pain in the ass, poor team player, blames everyone but themself, no championships.
  11. Serious discussion question-- Is Lebron James the next Allen Iverson?
  12. SFF and I had posted these numbers in the gamethread a few days ago, so I figured I'd put it up here as well. Ellsbury is on a pace for .310/.370/.476/.846, 20 HR, 85 RBI, 50 Doubles, 110 Runs, 65 Stolen Bases, and 202 Hits. Crawford's stats last year: .307/.356/.495/.851, 19 HR, 90 RBI, 110 runs, 47 SB, 184 hits. He also has 43 doubles and triples (Ellsbury has no triples right now), Those numbers are ridiculously close. Ellsbury's defense isn't quite there, but still look at how similar those numbers are. Having such a direct comparison is great for an agent like Boras.
  13. Wakefield has generally been successful in Tropicana, with a 3.40 career ERA there. Personally, I'm feeling more and more convinced that Wakefield is actually still capable of pitching to career numbers. The downside of that is... he's still a knuckleballer and he's bound to break down physically at some point.
  14. Why are major sport leagues so obsessed with Florida?
  15. The yahoo sports image doesn't make it quite as clear as the Herald one. The Miami Herald makes it pretty obvious that it was just a bad cut and paste job that probably happened because they were piecing it together at midnight last night. http://blogs.miaminewtimes.com/riptide/2011/06/miami_herald_runs_macys_ad_con.php
  16. At his salary, he could have a small pharmaceutical company developing new performance enhancing drugs just for him.
  17. Why are major sport leagues so obsessed with Florida? 2 NHL, 2 MLB, 2 NFL, 1 NBA. Who thought that was a good idea? Do any of those teams ever sell out during the regular season?
  18. Florida is hilarious... Tampa is a little island in a sea of Marlins territory. So true to life
  19. When talking about these kinds of things, I always emphasize the need for parity. More interleague games is fine, but the league needs to find a better solution to interleague issues. I'm tired of AL pitchers getting injured at the plate, and it can be painful to see NL teams try to field the DH position with their utility guy. The other big issue is that the MLB likes to create "marque matchups", but at the same time that gives better teams unfair schedules where the Sox play the Phillies every year, and the Yankees play the Mets.
