At my job, if my family is sick, I can take a week or two off of sick time or bereavement. When I have s*** going on in my life, my work is affected. John Lackey does not get these luxuries. It isn't like he isn't showing up, he's working his ass off, and seeing a good outing from him really is a good thing for this team. So atleast wait till his next bad start to complain about him.

Hmm... so having faith in Lackey worked for me. I have faith in Ortiz/Salty to finish this one off.

Tito talked about this on WEEI today. Two things, 1) It sounded like Tito was putting Ortiz in explicitly for the purpose of giving him AB. 2) A-gon talked to him explicitly about how he would be smart about playing the OF, and how he knows his limits. -
Cots contracts has them at 162, and the luxury tax is 178. There is probably a few million on top of what Cots has, so I'm thinking they have 5-10 million to the cap.

What's the worst thing that can happen? He'll get hurt? I used to be this guy's biggest fan, but right now I'm worried about him tweaking his back while bending down to tie his shoes. He'll play badly defensively? He's been doing that at SS already. Atleast we'd be putting a bat into the outfield that can actually hit LHP.

Nava is a terrible OF. He made Jeremy Hermida look good last year, and that is saying something. Atleast Lowrie has the skills for the position.

I think it should be fitting for someone that actually has had faith in John Lackey to start this gamethread, in a game where the Red Sox really need him to perform. Just win.

Wow, Cameron got the 3 most hittable pitches all night and didn't even touch them.

You know what? If Beckett was going to get shelled, atleast he got shelled on a night he had no chance to win whatsoever. His one bad start all year, and he saved it for a night where it didn't matter how he pitched. I think there's a big bright side there.
