  1. I think I may flood this thread with similar images tonight: http://www.followsteph.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/believe2.jpg
  2. I know what you mean, but he has 8 outs-- five of which are strikeouts.
  3. M!!! V!!!! P!!!!! M!!! V!!!! P!!!!! M!!! V!!!! P!!!!! M!!! V!!!! P!!!!! M!!! V!!!! P!!!!! M!!! V!!!! P!!!!!
  4. I was about to ask how good Lavarnway looked behind the plate today, and BAM Lavarnway with his first CS.
  5. Nice catch Crawford!!
  6. That would definitely be an interesting idea. Some of the ideas we were coming up before had to do with teams that would probably be better off getting a pile prospects than having one or two all-star caliber pitchers. The idea was a three trade, with possibly the dodgers or mariners for Kershaw/Felix. Linecum seems to be just as intriguing an idea. I'd probably do it, but Lincecum's form feels like a red flag at times.
  7. I hate to take an a700 stance on Doubront/Kalish, but let's wait until they actually turn into major league players before crowning them as starters. I could very easily see Doubront and Kalish turning into the next Bedard/Lowrie of this organization. Both of them should have been called up in May/June and stayed on the roster since then, but they have had injury after injury after injury. I hate to say it, but Lavarnway may be trade bait. Between Youk/Ortiz, I'm a little unsure if this organization is willing to put him at DH fulltime right now, and they don't seem to have the confidence in him to let him catch.
  8. Jed.... please, please....
  9. Did Guerrero just steal second? Wow, just wow.
  10. Is this the first time Salty has caught Beckett since April?
  11. Sorry, can we pretend I said that earlier?
  12. I know this is a terrible question... but who is available in the bullpen tonight?
  13. You mean the guy leading the league in double plays? I think there was good logic in sending Pedey.
  14. The Red Sox need to get someone to teach them some fundamentals. Baserunning seems to be a big issue this year.
  15. Evening folks. How's the game going?
  16. Right, I did go ahead and remove the traded prospects (and mixed up 2009 and 2007). My point is, we've seen a significant gap in influx of young talent. Hopefully some of those first rounders from the last two years turn to be studs.
  17. I'm still surprised that the Yankees played that marathon game last night. With absolutely nothing to play for but personal stats, they played 23 innings yesterday, and may very well have singlehandedly put the fire back into the Sox.
  18. Florida is oversaturated. There are 2-3 teams from every sports league, plus you have spring training, several famous NCAA teams, the 5th most prestiguous tennis event in the world, oppressive summers, and the demographics are against you. I've been questioning the decisions to put so many teams down there for years.
  19. Someone just reported that it was TMZ was who texted Lackey last night.
  20. Just to be clear, you are aware that Krista miscarried, right? I guess I don't know what people expect Lackey to do. Be miserable and wait for her to die? If I were her, I'd rather my friends and family be there for me, not someone who didn't love me anymore.
  21. I don't know why people are demonizing him for this. He stayed with her 7 months through this. I've been in three similar situations being in a situation where you wanted to end things, but they were going through hell and you simply felt obligated to stick around. And you know what, it really really sucks to be in a situation where you are miserable with that person, and you simply have the obligation to stay with them. Who knows when the discord started? The divorce rate for couples who go through the death of a child is massive, like 70% or something like that. I think that in this situation, they both will be better off.
  22. I do think this is a good point, but I think that is important to point out that Theo has not drafted all that well after 2006. 2007's best player is Alex Wilson, 2008's best are Weiland and Lavarnway, and 2009's is Middlebrooks-- with no other big names in any of those years, except for Drake Britton. I know players take time to develop, but there has definitely been a three year gap where he hasn't churned out elite players-- or major league average players, at that.
  23. I don't know, it feels like something is fishy here. A marriage with a pre-nup? I guess I feel like if I was her, I'd probably be saying to myself... life is shorter than I thought, why not find someone a little... less horse-like. Pure speculation here, but who knows, maybe that someone is a player on the Red Sox. Remember what happened to the Lakers here with Pau Gasol? Ugly ass man with a beautiful wife, divorce happens, rumors about an affair with a teammate. As heartless as it sounds, I think that this divorce is in the best interest of the team.
  24. Maybe someone from the Red Sox should just try to piss off Lackey before a start? It seems to work. Not necessarily personal stuff, that's too far, but he pitches much better angry than sad.
