  1. The Sox would have to sign or trade for an SS to replace Lowrie, all the Yankees have to do is insert Gardner.

I absolutely love Dustin out there and appreciate your appreciation of him but if there wasn't much else involved the Sox would have a hard time explaining why they turned down a deal for three of the four you mention. I'm speaking strictly on performance and not knowing the paramaters of any given deal. Just saying it would bother me to a degree that he was gone but three of those four have more to offer IMO. Lee is close also.
  3. I completely understand your suggesting Melky has accomplished more than Lowrie but really, he isn't much more than a 'bit player-- utility guy'. He's a fourth outfielder, if Gardner doesn't get hurt, Melky doesn't get nearly as many ABs. They are both place holders for Jackson. I look forward to the rush of offseason trade rumors involving Melky that don't come to pass.
