    The message I was replying was talking about luxery taxes so in that regard, yes, Gonzalez would be cheaper. Forget Beltre at 3 years, at least IMO.

    I'd rather see Lowell play out his contract and if he can't get it done give Kotchman a chance. I'd just rather have a corner spot available for upgrade down the road. If Beltre can be had cheaply and for one year he'd be interesting but it doesn't seem he'll bite for that.

    It's not a garbage stat it's just not a good stat to use to compare players head to head.

    They are for a clean-up hitter who will presumably have a lot of men on base in front of him.

    That sums up all of my concerns about this team. I like the pitching, I like the D, I like most of the hitters each in their own vacuum but I'm not crazy about the line-up as a whole. Hopefully Papi comes back and he and Youk can put up a reasonable 3-4 combo.

    Is that sarcasm? It looks like a leateral move at worst to me.

    The only one I'd argue was your choice of Ricky Williams. I kind of felt last year was a comeback for him. He put up much better numbers this year for sure but an injury increased his totals. I think it was last year that he proved he wasn't dead and buried and made excellent use of his touches.
