  1. I don't like Youk at third. He's not defensively sound there. I think this tells the story: TC E 3b 527 18 1b 3870 10 The hitting line-up sounds well. I would love to have Gonzales bat, I don't like how the positions would line up with him on the team. You're essentially losing a Gold Glove at 1b and placing a defensive liability at third.
  2. Yes, I saw that. But, condition of physical... which as we've seen, can be all the difference. Let Cameron pass that physical if he can.
  3. No. Cameron is definitely not confirmed. A twitter post should never ever suffice as confirmation of anything. A-Gon, again, not yet. Ramirez, again, not yet. That trade isn't even going through. So, 3-9 (well I guess 3/9.5) or something because you can't make up your mind about the catching situation.
  4. My god. Are you kidding me? That lineup is funny as hell since a third of the players in it aren't even ours yet. Really, dude? Really? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Ellsbury makes no sense. As you said Ellsbury is MLB proven. So lets go with your scenario. We trade Ellsbury and lets say Kelly. Now we know Ellsbury is proven and he's not that close to his full potential and this Kelly guy is a completely unproven prospect. Ellsbury only gets better and Kelly doesn't live up to his potential but still becomes a proven Major Leaguer, solid, fundamentally sound and a good guy to have on your team. Lets say Bucholz never gets where we want him and West-I-Got-Too-Much-Love-For-Me-By-Sox-Fans-Despite-Not-Proving-Anything-Yet turns out to be what I kind of have a feeling he will be, a bust. So we lose completely. Now we could trade three prospects, stick with Ellsbury who is proven (and is one of the better leadoff guys and centerfielders in the league) and only has more he can prove and even if the other three do well or even live up to their full potential we still wouldn't lose completely. I can just see too many scenarios in which us sending Ellsbury would make us lose out completely. As it is, we're going to stick with Lowell because of physicals that can't be passed which I think is the better deal overall. I don't want to see Bucholz go, especially with the potential of Beckett, Papelbon and Dice-K (who I've always felt was a waste but whatever) becoming FA's in the next couple seasons. I happen to think that Bucholz has the most upside out of all the Sox young players or prospects.
  6. Does it really matter? He's a subpar player anyways. I'd just assume not have him.
  7. The whole conversation is 12 pages long of people dicking around. I went through about 4 of them before it seemed hopeless. And I wasn't pointing out that to you, per se. I just don't get why there is 12 pages of people panicking/getting excited over nothing official.
  8. Why is everyone going crazy? Nothing is official. I don't think this will happen. If it does, I don't think Beltre will be their target. He's a feint. Epstein will go his magical way and pull Adrian Gonzalez out of his ass. Not that Youk is a defensive wizz at 3rd and I'd rather not see him there.
  9. Dude, seriously. Are you kidding? Drew is even more worthless than Lugo was. Have you been watching? He's a little bitch, really. I think the only person in history who was more over paid in any profession was our last president, Bush. Seriously. He's never ever been a top ten outfielder, let alone a top 5. If he's cracked the top 20 someone is on crack.
  10. Personally, I'm confused as to why this position has been an issue for us. I mean, we dropped Nomaaahhhh, got Cabrera who was excellent, then let him go after half a season which I personally think was the dumbest thing they could have done, wasted time and money on Renterria, had a good go with Gonzo, should have kept him, then went to... Lugo was the biggest disaster ever and now we're back to Gonzo with Lowrie in the mix. We've been totally spastic at this position and we've had our hands on solid guys. Lets stick with Gonzo a few years. Get stability at a crucial position.
  11. So I've decided you all can be my third home. Yes, yes, I know. How lucky you must feel. So just to tell you about myself a bit. Love the Sox, obviously. Hate the Yankees, actually hate is not a strong enough word. Despise isn't strong enough either. Nor is loathe. You get the point, I'm sure. I'm a Mainah residing in Cincinnati now. I say lots of things just for amusement and if I say something mean or disrespectful its not meant that way (unless its to do with the Yankees). Hope this site is as good as it appears See ya all around. Chris
  12. Wait, what do you mean its not what we're used to? Tek hasn't been worth a damn hitting in the better part of 3+ seasons. Having a guy hitting .260 is by far more than we're used to.
  13. We're talking really breaking the bank and on a position that eats players. What is the guarantee that Mauer won't break down? I mean, we're talking setting a payroll precedent at the catcher position? I just don't think its intelligent. It's perhaps the only position that I think it would be better in just about every scenario to develop at than to shell out a giant contract. I'm not afraid of spending money, I'm afraid of spending money on that particular position.
  14. Mauer is not for us. He will be far too expensive. We should work on drafting and developing catchers and keep Martinez at a bargain price (compared to Mauer). Mauer could easily be the first $20+ million a year catcher.
