Please send Papelbon out for the 12th and not Saito. Is it really necessary to just hand the Rays the game after we've come this far?
Stanley once went 10 innings.
Yeah but Greinke's the same age as Buchholz and had a head start on him in the development process. Buchholz isn't really a prospect anymore..he's 25 years old. We got Josh Beckett when he was about 25 years old, he already won a WS and was close to ace status.
Greinke has a carer 3.87 ERA and Buchholz has a career 5.64..they're almost the same age. By the time Buchholz beats his "anxiety problems" he'll be 26 or 27.
We'll probably add another Paul Byrd type. Nobody will clear waivers to us, we're almost the dead last team to get any NL pitcher and one of the last AL teams to get an AL pitcher.
Nobody's gonna want to deal with that contract. And we wouldn't pay all of it. We have him until Obama's term is over and we're just gonna have to deal with that. It was a bad decision and we were silly as fans to expect him to be the second coming from Japan knowing very well the history of Japanese pitchers.
That sucks, he was listed as the 2nd best prospect recently behind Jason Heyward and looked to be on his way to a 2010 start in the Bronx. I'm sure he'll be up there by June though.
Oh well, good for us I guess even if he's just missing one month. Any idea if he'll play in the AFL this fall if he's able to MFY fans?
Looks like Exposito just got the call up to AA Portland. Not sure why or how much he'll be playing but this should give anybody attending Futures At Fenway a chance to get a look at him if he plays, which I'm sure he will as the organization wants the fans to see our best young players.
I think AA is the right time to start giving catching prospects a real hard look. He's a solid all around player with a good stick that has a nice body built for catching. He could stand to add some weight but he's had decent power for a catcher throughout his minor league career.
He still needs to work on his patience like most hitting prospects, but it shouldn't be too alarming as he's likely 2 or 3 years away anyways.
When you replace Varitek with Martinez, Lowell is in the lineup, Drew is playing at his career averages in right and Bay is playing at his career averages in left your lineup is incredible.
Let's hope this game is a sign of things to come. Maybe not 16 run efforts but 7 or 8 run efforts on a regular basis.
