The funny thing to me, I guess, is how if I go to a fan forum for a 'top' NL team forum, it'll be full of posts how the AL sucks and how they're wimps because they coddle their pitchers and on and on. That's all I'm saying.

I'm not saying I disagree that the AL isn't overall, today, a bit stronger. But doesn't it change from decade to decade or sometimes even year to year, a bit? Making sweeping generalizations seems a bit...well, nvm. I know it's a lost cause to rationally debate anything like this on fan forums - any fan forums, not just here.

Penny is capable of sometimes having a decent game...IIRC he did once or twice for Boston, as well, tho not for as many innings. It's the long term that'll be interesting (to me) to watch.

Can't believe Penny squeezed himself out of that jam in the 5th against the Phillies. He got some help with a nice catch by one of the Giants outfielders.

Keeping that score close and within reach...nice. Green's probably relieved too, since it means he won't have to pitch again.

I have some faith because it's still early, but if they leave Beckett in there and he continues the suckage, even hot bats may not be able to compensate...against Garza.

Agreed. Something's obviously wrong with Beckett, whether it's mechanics or hidden injury or confidence etc...whatever it is, the catcher has nothing to do with it. And yeah, missing a start couldn't hurt.

I believe I said I understood that the other stats were the main focus for determining a pitcher's skill...but I still find the W/L stat interesting, like rhet does. I'll check those names later, but a sample size of 3 is nowhere near large enough for me to feel a determination of...odds? trends?...whateveryoucallit?...could be made. Have another dozen or two names for me to check out? I'm not being sarcastic there...if you have more names, I'd be interested in them too.
